A productive life is worth living. It is a life filled with fulfillment and happiness. Living a life that you are proud of might mean different things to different people.
Generally, though, a good and productive life is one with success-friendly values. A life of achievements (no matter how small) that you are happy to recount at any given time. A productive life could be the outcome of living a pro-active life on purpose.
There is often a struggle to balance the different areas of our lives in order to get that wholesome picture that we hope for. To make that happen, there is need for the acquisition of certain skills.
Below are some of the common skills that can help us attain an admirable life.
1. Time Management:
Time is of the essence. A saying has it that if you love life then don’t squander time because that is the stuff life is made of. Whatever it is you need to do, bear in mind that you are the one who will have to work to meet up with time and not the other way round. If you are able to manage the time you have, then you have a higher chance of getting your work done.
Time management requires that you take control of your time. Doing so helps boost concentration.
Remember that every lost second does not have a duplicate in the future, once it is gone, it is gone forever.
2. Say No To Gossip
Gossip tears down relationships and destroys people’s personalities. It is one of the unproductive things you can do with your time.
If pedaling rumors and gossiping about people is your stock in trade, don’t be surprised if you end up alone because no one can trust you with a secret.
Instead of gossiping, share ideas that can move you forward in life.
Empathy simply means “feeling with”; putting yourself in another’s shoes to fully understand what they go through. This makes you human and smart at the same time. You communicate better with people when you know how to come into their situation.
4. Mind Your Own Business
Being empathetic is good alright but there are also times when you need to draw the line and mind your business. Interfering in other people’s businesses especially when not invited can be irritating. It could dent one’s reputation.
5. Learn To Listen
Listening is a skill that is required for all types of communication. Listening is important in personal lives, daily activities, career, and employment environments. It prevents miscommunication. Listening helps you understand more.
6. Be Consistent
Consistency helps you not to loose focus on a set goal. It’s not easy keeping up with a set plan but persistence in pursuing it wins the race.
7. Understand You Are Not An Island
We all need help from time to time. You can’t always do it alone. When you ask for help you stand a chance of learning from others and increasing your knowledge bank. It does not belittle you but makes you open minded.
8. Stay Present And Live In The Moment
Let the past go; make the best of the present and be hopeful for a better future. This is when you are advised not to obsessively think about things whether past or in the future. Live in the moment.
9. Master Your Thoughts
Don’t let those thoughts control you, take charge and control those thoughts. The mind is such a powerful faculty. Thoughts often reflect in actions.
Thus it is necessary that we ensure that the thoughts that will soon be evident in our lives be worth it. It is important to get rid of the mental clutters.
Be progressive with your thoughts. Think positive.
10. Speak Up
If you want to be a leader, you must learn how to communicate. Learning to speak before people gives you confidence.
