Afrima 3.0 Honors Africa’s Music Icons; Manu Dibanga, King Sunny Ade And Late Papa Wemba

Afrima 3.0, the 2016 edition of the All Africa Music Awards, held on Sunday at the Convention Centre Eko Hotel and Suites. In heavy attendance were stars from all over Africa and a lineup of hosts were recruited to keep them all occupied.

The award night was hosted by Ahmed Soultan (Morocco), Bonang Matheba (South Africa) and Ika Jang (Congo) while the red carpet hosts were Denola Grey (Nigeria), Denrele Edun (Nigeria), Hauwa AllahBura (Nigeria) and Pam Happi.

As the award show went on, three of Africa’s biggest music icons were honored. Afrima 3.0 featured tribute performances for Manu Dibanga, King Sunny Ade and the late Papa Wemba. King Sunny Ade finally walked away with the Special Recognition Award for his musical influence.

Wizkid, who has already had an amazing year with various award nods, walked away with the Artist of the Year award and newcomer Falz was crowned the revelation of the year at Afrima 3.0
