Some of Africa’s most respected artistes will be hooking up to create a range of electrifying musical fusions on Coke Studio, a 16-week music show on ZBCTV. The artistes that will represent include the likes of Mi Casa, Oliver Mtukudzi, Cassper Nyovest, The Mahotella Queens and some others.

In the course of the show, these artistes who come from different genres and backgrounds will have to pair up, fuse their styles and come up with a new track within three days. The thought is scarily exciting; what happens when you fuse hiphop with Fuji? Maybe we will get to find out in Coke Studio.

The entire song-making process, from start to finish, will be caught on camera giving audiences a “fly-on-the-wall” look into how music is made. Viewers can therefore watch their favorite musicians in action, witnessing all the behind-the-scenes drama and listening to each artist perform their fusion track.

Brand Manager Coca-Cola Zimbabwe, Vee Chibanda says; “Coke Studio is all about bringing African talent together to create fresh and interesting music. We have chosen some of Africa’s best artists and challenged them to use what makes them unique – their background, their nationality, their musical genre – and fuse it with someone else’s. The product would be something never been seen or heard before”.

The show had previously opened doors for undiscovered talents in Africa with “Coke Studio RAW”. Coke Studio RAW was introduced to give struggling, talented artistes who are not signed to a label, a chance to break into the industry. In RAW, the artistes had been given two days in a professional studio to work up a track with two up and coming producers. Eight of the 16 artists from RAW made it into Coke Studio and will be featured on the show.
