While addressing Filipinos in Laos, Duterte has issued a threat to the Abu Sayyaf terrorist group. He says that with just vinegar and salt he would eat them alive.
The new Filipino President may pass for another Mugabe in the Asian continent. The only difference is that his people incredibly love him. His hyperbolic expressions have been making headlines since he assumed power as President.
The commenced Southern Asia Leaders Summit still has the air of the verbal abuse of President Duterte towards the United States president.
He called Obama, the “son of a bitch”. In reaction to his comments, Obama described him as “colorful”.
“I have seen some of those colorful statements in the past so clearly he’s a colorful guy.”
Duterte is the blunt and raw leader who perhaps has no time for political correctness especially when he acts in anger. He had advised a Filipino Senator to resign and go hang herself over claims of involvement in illegal drug trade.
Another moment he dropped a verbal bomb was as he addressed the rate and level of terrorism in the country.
Abu Sayyaf is a terrorist group in the Asian country. They have destroyed both lives and properties. Addressing the menace, the leader who does not spare words as they surge up to his lips, warns the group in these words.
“Just drive me to extreme anger, and I can eat a person. Just give me vinegar and salt, I can eat a person in front of them… They’ve burned 20 young girls for refusing to have sex.”
President Duterte said this to a gathering of Filipinos based in Vientiane, Laos, yesterday night.
“If you show me that kind of act – you know, I am capable of eating a person. I’ll really open up the body, give me vinegar and salt, I’ll eat you.”
During his time as Davao City mayor, Duterte was known to have repeatedly said that he was capable of personally killing to ensure there was no criminals in the society. According to him a true leader must have the capacity to kill for national interest.
In clear terms he ordered the military to destroy the Abu Sayyaf group.
