Ghanaian Footballer Mohammed Anas Defends Thanking Both His Wife And Girlfriend In A Live Interview


Mohammed Anas is a Ghanaian footballer who plays for South African team ‘Free State Stars’. After a match against Ajax Cape Town in which he scored two of the goals for his side, a performance that ensured that he was the man of the match, he gave a post-match interview that has made him infamous.

The 22-year old Mohammed Anas while speaking in the interview excitedly thanked God for his performance before thanking his fans and both his wife and his girlfriend. In one breath he said;

“I appreciate my fans also, my wife and my girlfriend,”

Mohammed Anas then immediately tried to correct his slip, stating; “I mean my wife, sorry to say”. Things got a bit more awkward when the full import of his blunder seemed to occur to Anas leading him to direct some other pleas at his wife. The footballer continued;

“I’m so sorry…I love you so much, I love you so much from my heart!”

Mohammed Anas Denies the Existence of a Girlfriend

The video of the post-match interview was posted over the weekend and resulted in a lot of amusing comments. The now infamous Mohammed Anas trying to do some extra damage control has denied being unfaithful. Coming to his own defense, the footballer said that he had been talking about his daughter in the interview. According to him;

“My family knows that I call my daughter my girlfriend. That’s what I was talking about. I don’t have a girlfriend,”

Anas has also said that he is sure that he has nothing to worry about from his wife. He told the BBC; “I love her so much. She’s given me two beautiful children. She is fine. She knows what kind of man I am so I am not worried,” then further bragged about his new infamous status;

“I’m famous now – people around the world know me,”

He is right on that note even though what he has become known for does not put him in an especially good light.
