Bayezid Hossain was born with an ageing disease known as Progeria or the Hutchinson-Gilford syndrome.
The ageing disease causes the abnormal ageing of children from about 1-2 years. The disease has no cure at the moment.
4-year old Bayezid Hossain suffers from Progeria which is not a hereditary disease. Medical experts say that the rare health condition is as a result of a mistake in the genes.
“A single mistake in a certain gene causes it to make an abnormal protein. When cells use this protein, called progerin, they break down more easily. Progerin builds up in many cells of kids with progeria, causing them to grow old quickly.”– WedMD.
When Hossain’s parents noticed the abnormalities in their baby, they went to the hospital but the hospitals could not explain the condition. Endlessly, they were referred to one hospital or the other.
The couple has spent an estimated sum of £4,000 on different doctors and healers. However there has not been any success or improvement in their son’s health.
“His situation remains the same, and he’s probably getting even worse day by day.”
“My son isn’t a normal baby, and it’s tragic for any parent to know that his child will not survive for long.”– Lovelu, Hossain’s Father.
Bayezid Hossain stands a chance of a stroke or a heart attack as a result of the disease. Progeria patients do not usually live for more than 13 years. Regardless, some have defied the odds and lived up to 20 years and more.
“His physical growth is completely abnormal but mentally, he has wonderful conversation, very aware and is very intuitive for his age.”
“He does not look like other children. He looks like an old man. As a first time mother, I can’t bear the pain of seeing my child like this.”– Tripti Khatun, Hossain’s Mother

A similar case was that of 29-year old Chinese Hu Juan who started ageing immediately after giving birth to her first child. At 29, she looked 60.
