A Nigerian actress, Rahma Sadau, has reportedly been banned from the Hausa film making faction, Kannywood. Rahma Sadau’s ban was endorsed for her “immodest” displays of hugging and cuddling in a music video.
According to the Islamic-rooted entertainment body, the actress in question has been severally warned for brandishing amorous gestures in her crafts as an entertainer.
Muhammadu Kabiru Maikaba, Moppan Chairman, said:
“This is not the first time that she has been doing these wayward things. We have been warning her, but she still went ahead to dent our image.”
It is typical of any Islamic institution that public display of affections are moderated. Working in the make-believe department does not seem to excuse that.
The chairman of the association, Muhammadu Kabiru Maikaba, said the ban was “total”.

Rahma Sadau is believed to be on a vacation in India. At the moment she has not yet commented on the ban.
The Hausa actress was banned by Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (Moppan) for “hugging and cuddling” pop star Classiq in a music video.
The video was a dramatic expression of a love song from the pop star. Rahma acted as his love interest. The scenario is typical of most Nigerian music videos at this time – both entertainers cuddled and hugged in some parts of the video.
The bone of contention for the northerners is that the music video and her role in it does not uphold the Islamic standards and expectations.
Rahma will not be the first to be criticized for her media appearance. Years back Halima Abubakar, also a Nigerian actress, was slammed and much more criticized for modelling an underwear in the UK.
The association hopes that Rahma Sadau’s ban would serve as a deterrent for others.
And what happens to Classiq, the singer? Nothing. Reason? He is not a member of Moppan.
The recent Rahma Sadau’s ban has erupted lots of criticisms and comments from many.
While some come from a didactic point of view, insisting that the star should have complied with the regulations of the body whilst still a member; others believe they are just being outrageously conservative.
