Samuel Eto’o Becomes Antalyaspor’s Interim Coach

Eto’o had always dreamed of being a coach, and now it’s coming true. With the resignation of coach Yusuf Simsek, he has been appointed the interim coach of the Turkish Club, Antalyaspor. It appears the 2 time cup of nations winner has a spot for youth formation and talent discovery and development; subsequently, he founded a football Academy in 2006. Perhaps his leadership and management skills has informed this amazing international recognition and appointment.

Why him? How about why not him? The talented Cameroonian star, business man and super rich footballer has a pedigree of making and breaking records, utter excellence I would say. He started off as a captain for Cameroon national team, and much later as a striker for Antalyaspor Turkish Cub, making his enviable trend-setting skills all the more conspicuous. Eto’o is known for his swift and tactical displays in the field.

For 18 years he has embellished his professional soccer profile with an unquenchable trademark of a leading and legendary goal scorer- scored over a hundred goals with Barcelona in 5 seasons. Having Roger Milla as an Icon, Eto’o has become an icon himself, creating for himself an insurmountable record of daunting accolades and achievements-  4 time winner of the African Player of the Year award; 3rd in the FIFA World Player of the Year award, 2005; 1st player to win two European continental trebles, amongst others. He sure has carved a niche of excellence for himself; enough to merit the position of a coach.
