Will Senegalese Demba Ba’s Injury Be The End Of His Soccer Career? That’s the question on everybody’s mind. Demba Ba broke his leg during a match over the weekend.
The former Chelsea front man sustained the injury during the Chinese Super League match against Shanghai SIPG.
He was racing for the ball with Shanghai SIPG’s captain, Sun Xiang. Accidentally, Sun’s leg hooked on his and his leg visibly fractured, as it hung loosely from below the knee.
Demba Ba is a Senegalese professional footballer who plays for the Chinese club, Shanghai Shenhua. The team’s coach gave the world a shock when he insinuated that this could be the end of the African champ’s soccer career.
“It could end his professional career.” – Gregorio Manzano, Shanghai Shenhua Coach.
Demba joined the Chinese club last year for about £12 million. He had earlier played for West Ham, Newcastle and Chelsea before his transfer to Shanghai Shenhua club.
The 31-year old African star used to be a Premier League marksman. He is famous for being the division’s top scorer with 14 goals in 18 games this season.
Though Shanghai Shenhua team won the match with a 2-1 score, Manzano still bleeds over Demba’s broken leg injury.
“If I can choose, I’d rather lose the match than lose Demba Ba.”
“Football is unfair sometimes to let such a terrible thing happen to such a good man… That was the kind of terrible foul that could end a player’s career.”
Former England boss and SIPG’s coach, Sven-Goran Eriksson sent in his sympathy over the sad incidence.
“It was a bad injury. I’m very sorry for Ba.”
Chelsea, his former club has expressed their support for the severely injured striker on Twitter,
“All at Chelsea FC send our best wishes to former striker @dembabafoot. Get well soon Demba.”
