The Voice Premiered In Nigeria And The First Episode Was Sensational

Some months back, it came to light that The Voice, a popular American reality TV singing competition would be hosted in Nigeria and indeed it launched yesterday, 10th April.

The aim of the show is to find new singing talents who will be awarded a cash price and a record deal.

The aspiring singers are usually guided by coaches who also serve as judges. The coaches guide the singers in their team to not just make them come out top but also emerge the winning coach.

The coaches hosting The Voice Nigeria are, 2baba, Timi Dakolo, Waje and Patoranking.

Anchored by IK Osakioduwa and Stephanie Coker, the show kicked off on African Magic Channels 151 and 153 by 7pm.

The show started with a montage of the coaches/hosts talking about The Voice and what it’s all about.

The first performance of the night was by the coaches as they all performed 2 Baba’s hit song, Implication. The performance went on with each host giving a unique take on the song.

The Audition…

Up next were the blind auditions. With their seats backing the stage, the hosts had to listen to each contestant. If a host likes what he/she hears, he turns his sit around. A contestant needs only one seat turned to get in.
