10 Popular K-pop Groups That Disbanded in 2019
MYTEEN which is short for “Make Your Teenager” was a South Korean pop band most popular for their debut EP, MYTEEN GO!. The group which was formed in 2016 by The Music Works comprised seven original members Chunjin, Choi Eun-su, Kim Kook-heon, Shin Jun-seop, Song Yu-vin, Hanseul, and Lee Tae-vin. The group debuted on 26th July 2017 and disbanded on 20th August 2019. Prior to their disbandment, member Lee Taevin left in December 2018, causing them to end as a sextet.
Bigstar was a five-member k-pop band formed by Brave Entertainment in 2012. The quintet which comprised Baram, Raehwan, Feeldog, Sunghak, and Jude made their debut release on 12th July 2012. Unfortunately, Bigstar ended their journey in July 2019 after all the members’ contracts expired. Before their disbandment, Bigstar was best known for being the first-ever idol group to perform a hundred music shows in Japan. They achieved this feat in 2014.
Wassup was a K-pop group that originally started as a septet comprising members Nada, Jinju, Dain, Nari, Jiae, Sujin, and Woojoo. The group which Mafia Records formed in 2013 was popular for specializing in dancehall and twerking. In 2017, members Nada, Jinju, and Dain left the group following disputes and lawsuits against their agency, leaving Wassup with only for members. Sadly, the quartet eventually disbanded on 10th February 2019 after Mafia terminated the contracts of their contracts.
A product of DSP Media, A-Jax was formed in 2012 as a seven-member boy group. The group’s final line-up, however, consisted of five members Yunyoung, Hyeongkon, Seungjin, Junghee, and Seungyeop. During its existence, A-Jax was best known for their debut single, “One 4 U”. The group, however, disbanded on 31st March 2019 on the expiration of their contract with DSP Media.
6. Nine Muses
Although Nine Muses started as a nine-member girl group, their line-up gradually reduced to four comprising Hyemi, Gyeongree, Keumjo, and Sojin. The group which debuted in 2010 was most popular for their releases such as Sweet Rendezvous, Prima Donna, and Drama. The group, however, disbanded in February 2019.
Pledis Entertainment formed Pristin, a ten-member K-pop girl group in 2016. The group which debuted in March 2017, is best known for their Hi! Pristin album single, “Wee Woo”. Pristin also consisted of a five-member sub-group called Pristin V which debuted in May 2018. In 2019, seven of Printin’s members completed their contract with Pledis. Consequently, the group disbanded.
