A household name in South Africa and an industry heavyweight in the country’s entertainment scene, his feud with fellow rapper AKA further cemented his star status and meant he was never far away from the headlines. His success over the years has seen him become one of South Africa’s richest entertainers and he does take pleasure in flaunting his wealth online.

Casper Is One of South Africa’s Biggest Rappers

Rap remains one of Caspers’s major mainstays. Despite his diversification into other sources of income, he has stayed true to his craft as an elite rapper.

Born Refiloe Maele Phoolo, Casper got into the rap game at a pretty early age and has never looked back since. He started out with a hip hop group known as Childhood Gangsta and got his first glimpse of fame after being discovered and featured on a rap song by fellow South African rapper Hip Hop Pantsula (HHP) who had far more clout at the time. Though what really cemented his claim to fame as a rapper was the release of his first studio album in 2014 with the title Tsholofelo. Over the years he has evolved into a multiple award-winning rapper, songwriter, and music producer.

Cassper Nyovest appears on many top 10 lists of richest South African rappers. His spot is often second or third. There seems to be a general consensus that his sometimes rival AKA holds the number one spot. Other familiar names on these lists are the likes of Nasty C, Khuli Chana, KO, and JR among a few others.

Nyovest is worth a reported $4 million. By African standards, that is a king’s ransom, even for renowned rappers. Casper Nyovest’s wealth draws primarily from mouth-watering endorsement deals with notable brands, music production revenues from his independent record label, as well as record sales.

The Rapper Has Bagged Endorsement deals With Some Of SA’s Most Respected Brands

Cassper Nyovest’s music has not only garnered him fans and followership, but he has also made bank multiple times as a result of his popularity among hip hop lovers in Africa and beyond. He has continued to do well financially in an era where income from record sales is on a steady decline and record labels are resorting to 360 deals with artists signed to them whereby they not only benefit from record sales but they also share in proceeds from others sources like tours.

Nyovest has entered into some really lucrative endorsement deals with notable organizations and brands including African telecom giant MTN, soft drinks maker Coca-Cola, and mobile phone manufacturer AG Mobile. Apart from those, he has also signed endorsement deals with popular Vodka brand Ciroc, Fast food vendor KFC, sportswear maker Nike South Africa. He also has an endorsement deal worth R25 million with Tech giants Samsung. He has also got deals with Beer brand Castle Lite as well as South African retail giant Shoprite.

One of his most lucrative endorsement deals came in 2015. It was the product of a partnership between MTN South Africa and AG Mobile, he got to play a part in designing a mobile phone that went on sale with the brand name AG#Hashtag. The endorsement quickly signaled to many that Nyovest was not only an already widely acclaimed entertainer in South Africa but was also a force to reckon with the league of dealmakers and entrepreneurs.

In 2017, Nyovest signed another big endorsement deal with the Ciroc vodka brand, as a result of this deal his music videos featured bottles of the drink, notably the video for the song Tito Mboweni, a song that happens to be the lead single from his third studio album called Thuto, which was released in May 2017.

Casper Is The Founder of Family Tree Records

Another important source of income and wealth for the flamboyant rapper has been his record label. In 2014, Nyovest left his erstwhile record label, Impact Soundz due to artistic differences to found his own record label which he called Family Tree Records, an independent record company. Four of Nyovest’s albums so far have been produced and released by Family Tree Records, incidentally, all four went platinum according to Recording Industry of South Africa (RISA).

South African rapper and songwriter, Nadia Nakai is also signed to the Family Tree Records label and has released two albums whilst with the label. These include her Bragga album which was released in 2016 and Nadia Naked released in 2019.

He Owns A Mansion in the Kyalami area of Johannesburg

It is a long-known fact that most hip-hop artists get into the game not only to showcase and share their artistic talent but to also work towards creating a better quality of life for themselves and their loved ones. One of the trappings of this social mobility is an opulent home and address. Nyovest is no exception when it comes to this drive, from a young age, he had told his parents of his ambition to become a star musician and acquire or build his dream home. Well, that dream came true.

In 2016, Nyovest acquired a home that would surely incite envy amongst rappers of his ilk within the African continent. He reportedly parted with 10 million Rand (about $700,000 at the time) to acquire the property. His home is an opulent white mansion located in the Kyalami area of Johannesburg. Some of the features of the tastefully furnished rapper’s home include a sizable outdoor swimming pool, a four-car garage, a large garden with lush greenery. The picturesque mansion also features an imperial staircase, a recording studio, a cigar lounge, and a whole wall of awards won by the artist.
