A Look Into Gabriel Afolayan’s Marriage to Wife Adebanke and the Scandals They Faced

Gabriel Afolayan is a notable Nigerian actor and singer who has won a few awards as a result of his work. G-fresh, a name he uses on stage, also happens to be the younger brother of Kunle Afolayan, a well-known film producer and director. Over the years, their family has identified themselves as top-notch Nigerian creatives, prompting the public to get engrossed with every aspect of their lives – marriage inclusive.

The award-winning actor is currently married to Adebanke Afolayan. The two wedded in what can best be described as a star-studded ceremony sometime in 2018. However, the lovebirds have since faced more than their fair share of troubles.

How Gabriel Afolayan Met and Married Adebanke

To the best of our knowledge, Afolayan is still a married man as he tied the nuptial knot with his wife, Adebanke Afolayan, in April 2018. The couple reportedly started dating 18 months before getting married, and their wedding actually came as a surprise to Gabriel Afolayan’s fans because his relationship status was never made public. This also explains why there are no details with regards to how he met Adebanke and how their love blossomed over the 18 month period.

However, it was gathered that the introduction ceremony was held in Osogbo, Osun State and this was shortly followed by the traditional wedding held on 5th April 2018 in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. As expected, it was a star-studded ceremony that had dozens of celebrities in attendance, including the likes of Banky W, Adesua Etomi, Mo’Cheddah, Adeniyi Johnson, Tope Tedela, Wole Ojo, Tunde Demuren, and a host of others.

More so, #GBanks2018 – the name the couple chose to call their auspicious occasion, literally shut down Ibadan. It was also a trending topic on social media at the time. Banky even went on Instagram Live to give fans a glimpse of the invite and the video went viral as fans joined in to repost it on several social media platforms.

Adebanke Was A Sigle-Mum Prior To Her Marriage To Gabriel Afolayan

Adebanke, Gabriel Afolayan’s wife, is a lovely lady with a great sense of style. She never hesitates to show off stunning photos of herself in various outfits to show her fans how beautiful and charming she is. Her beauty and elegance captivated fans on social media from the moment the couple’s pre-wedding photos were released.

However, not much is known about her life prior to her marriage to the notable Nollywood star. The only information about her past is that the beautiful Banke was based in Houston and was a single mother to a lovely son.

The Afolayans Have Since Faced Many Divorce Rumors

In March 2020, after just 2 years of marital bliss, rumors of their divorce started to circulate on and off the social media space. The rumors originated from the Instagram screenshots by a blogger which exposed how Banky W (who is married to Adesua Etomi) had a fling with Gabriel Afolayans’ wife, Adebanke. From the alleged story, it appeared that Banke and Banky W were previously familiar with each other before the cheating allegations.

More so, the blogger revealed in another post that Gabriel allegedly became involved in drugs and turned into a wife-beater, causing his wife to cheat on him. The issue became even more complicated when Gabriel Afolanyan and his wife unfollowed themselves on Instagram. It was further observed that the actor and Banky were also not following each other on Instagram amidst the cheating rumors. This lent credence to the rumors and came as a rude shock to fans as Banky W who was known to be a loving and devoted husband to his wife. However, neither Gabriel nor Adebanke responded to the controversies. Nothing was also heard from the camp of the Wellingtons as they never addressed it.

Gabriel Afolayan Maintains That His Marriage Is Still Going Solid With Adebanke

Being a high-profile celebrity in the Nigerian entertainment industry, the public was not going to back down easily on Gabriel Afolayan’s alleged crisis. Besides, it did not just drag his name to the mud but also that of other notable entertainers – Banky W and Adesua Etomi. Social media was practically agog with the news for several months because of the caliber and personalities of the celebrities involved in the scandal.

Finally, after a little over a year of keeping quiet about the unfortunate incident, Gabriel came out to debunk the stories about his marriage failing. He made this revelation in an interview he granted sometime in March 2021. When asked what was his take about the rumors of his marriage hitting the rocks, the actor explained that it was personal to him and he did not want his personal life to be public so he kept it out of the media for no other reason other than a personal principle. More so, he pointed out that his marriage, like every other marriage out there, has ups and downs. With that said, he reiterated that his marriage is still going strong.

Not Much Has Since Been Heard About The Couple After The Scandal

One thing about marital scandals is that it usually ends up shaking the core of the bond the couple share and the Afolayan’s case was not different. However, the pair have continued to maintain the secrecy with regards to the infidelity allegations and none of them has come out to call out any party on social media as is seen in many celebrity love dramas.

So as of now, there’s not much about their personal life on social media anymore and it could be a good thing for the young couple who needs time and seclusion from prying eyes to work on their marriage. Notwithstanding, they still maintain relevance in the public space as the pair are seen to be pretty busy on their own endeavors. Gabriel has been involved in a number of movie and film projects since the scandal began to make rounds and he religiously updates his fans and followers on his work situation. Adebanke, on the other hand, seems to juggle life between two continents as she frequently travels outside Nigeria to handle several personal matters.
