Allen Robinson is an American NFL wide receiver who currently plays football for Chicago Bears and he wears No. 15 shirt of the franchise. Robinson has an amazing physique, he knows it and doesn’t hesitate to flaunt it. The dark-skinned baller is amongst the top NFL players that started their careers from the high school before he was drafted into professional football when the Jackson Jaguars drafted him in 2014 as the 61st pick.

Allen Robinson’s Bio

Robinson Bernard Robinson was born on August 24, 1993, to American parents, Allen Robinson Sr. and Tracie Robinson in Detroit, Michigan. He was named after his father as ‘Allen Robinson Jr’. The young Allen Robinson had his eyes set on football as a young boy when he schooled at St Mary’s Prep School. From there, he proceeded to complete his high school education at Orchard Lake High School, following his father’s insistence that he moved to the latter.

He has a sister named Ashley whom he grew up with in Detroit. Ashley is a Michigan University Alumni. Robinson bagged a degree in telecommunication during his undergraduate days at the Penn State University. He believes that he would build a career in sportscasting and coaching later in the future.

During his day in St Mary’s Prep School, he started playing football and continued his football at Orchard Lake High. His football career continued in college when he joined Pen State University on November 2010 despite having offers from the likes Minnesota and Toled.

While in the University, Robinson was prepped and coached by one of the best coaches then, Joe Paterno. He made appearances in 12 games with three catches for 29 yards as a freshman in 2011. In his sophomore season, following the departure of big players that would make him not to have enough play time, Robinson rose to become the team’s first choice wide receiver in 2012. He continued with his excellent form and recorded more impressive stats. He had 77 receptions for 1,018 yards and 11 touchdowns in his sophomore season.

In his junior season in 2013, in the season’s opening game against Syracuse, Robinson recorded 11 receptions for 133 yards with 1 touchdown, he improved in his games by the days. Allen Robinson later recorded an impressive 12 games starts, posting 97 receptions for 1,432 yards rushes and 6 touchdowns in his junior year, that electrifying record won him the All American Award by Sporting News.

Allen Robinson got himself endeared to the heart of Phil Steele who named him to his second team All-American Squad. Following his announcement to enter the 2014 NFL Draft, he forfeited his remaining college football eligibility. He has also featured in season 6 of a tattoo reality television competition series titled Ink Master in 2015.

1. His NFL Career

He was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars as the 61st overall pick in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He was drafted as a second wide receiver by the Jaguars behind Marqise Lee. On June 21, 2014, Allen Robinson officially signed his 4-year contract deal worth $3.51 with $1.17 million guaranteed and $877,718 signing bonus.

He started the season as the 4th wide receiver standing behind the likes of Marqise Lee, Cecil Shorts, and Allen Hurns. Allen Robinson made his debut for the Jaguars on September 7, 2014, in the match against Philadelphia Eagles where he recorded just a lone catch. His performance improved as the season progressed and he eventually made his first career start on September 21, 2014, with 7 catches for 79 receiving yards. In his rookie season, Robinson featured in 10 games, starting just 8, he, however, ended that season with laudable 48 receptions for 548 receiving yards with 2 touchdowns.

During his 2015 season, Allen Robinson fired up his game, as he got named the season’s starter alongside Allen Hurns. He recorded 1 reception for 27 yards rushes in the season’s opening match that his team eventually lost 9-20 to Carolina Panthers.

He later finished the season with 14 touchdowns, 80 receptions for 1,400 receiving yards. This achievement earned him his Pro Bowl mention and made him the 31st ranked player of the 100 NFL Top players by his fellow players. Following Robinson’s wonderful season and records alongside his teammate Allen Hurns, they were nicknamed “Thunder and Lightning”.

Robinson struggled to replicate his 2015 feats in 2016, but he could only record 6 touchdowns, 73 receptions for 883 receiving yards. He had a dismal 2017 season following a devastating knee injury – a torn anterior cruciate ligament ACL –  which he picked up in the start of the season. He was out of the majority games of the 2017 season as he was recuperating from the injury.

As a result of this, he lost his place on the depth chart; this resulted in him leaving the Jaguars in early 2018, as his service was no longer required after his contract expired.

Allen Robinson is currently with the Chicago Bears, as a free agent on a 3-year contract worth $42 million which he inked on March 15, 2018. He has so far played 10 games, in which he scored 41 receptions for 573 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns for the Chicago Bears while his career stats summary is recorded as 53 games played so far with 243 receptions for 3421 receiving yards and 26 touchdowns.

Allen Robinson current salary is estimated to be $11,500,000. His current contract deal with the Bears is worth $42 million with him earning $14 million every year for the next three years. His current salary makes him one of the highest paid players in his team.

Allen believes in giving back to society and so he founded a charity (Within Reach Foundation) to enable him to achieve that. He used it as a channel to reach out to children and youths. The Foundation majorly supports ‘back to school education’ programs for children and they also organize ‘Christmas giveaways’ to the less privileged.

5. Feature In A Television Series Competition

The chap is not only a sportsman but has also veered into the entertainment industry to test his talent in acting. He made an appearance in a television series of Ink Master’s season six, side by side with Tony Jefferson and Darius Slay among other stars.
