Andrew Garfield has been in what can best be described as an on-again, off-again relationship with actress Emma Stone ever since the duo got together to film The Amazing Spider-Man (2012). Garfield and Stone reportedly began dating during the production of the superhero movie where she was playing his character’s love interest, Gwen Stacy.

The pair, who were at the time supposedly seeing other people, kept their relationship under wraps at first before they later began to step out together to promote the film, prompting further speculation in the process. Their other relationships soon died off and the pair officially became an item. They went on to reprise their roles in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) where their on-screen chemistry was evident for everyone to see.

Garfield and Stone’s relationship went on to become one of the most well-documented celebrity relationships by the media, with frequent speculation concerning either an engagement or break-up. A year after the sequel to their movie was released, the pair reportedly broke up although they have since been spotted around together on several occasions, with Stone saying in an interview that she still loved him. Garfield, on the other hand, has gained notoriety for not answering questions about his personal life from the press.

Is He Gay?

Andrew Garfield is heterosexual, that is, he is sexually attracted to people of the opposite sex. The Angels of America actor, however, cast doubt on his sexuality after he said in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine that he was open to acting on impulses that may arise within him, which means he was open to exploring a sexual relationship with a man if he felt like it in the future. He went on to add that he was a gay man who just has not had any physical gay experience.

In Angels of America (2017), a two-part play by 1993 Pulitzer Prize winner for drama, Tony Kushner, Garfield plays a young gay AIDS-suffering man named Prior Walter for which he won a Tony Award for Best Actor.
