1. Angie Watson is a native of Canada.
Angie Watson was born on the 11th of June 1977 in Toronto, Ontario Province, Canada. The media personality spent her formative years in Toronto and started playing basketball at an early age. She later played high school basketball at the Sir Oliver Mowat Collegiate Institute (SOMCI) where she was a five-year starter. During her time at the institution, Watson averaged 26 points, 10 rebounds and 8 blocks per game. She also helped her school to win several trophies including the 1992 Scarborough Championships and the 1993 Toronto Metro Championships.
2. She quit her professional basketball career due to persistent injuries.
After her outstanding high school career, Angie Watson moved to the United States of America to attend the University of Georgia. In her four years with The Bulldogs (1996 – 1999), the Toronto native averaged 7.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game and established a reputation as a formidable opponent as well as a team leader. Watson posted college career highs of 19 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals as the Bulldogs reached the 1999 NCAA final four. She also helped her team to win the 2000 SEC championships.
Angie Watson completed her degree in 2000 and thereafter moved overseas to join Italian League side, The Laghi. She spent just one year with the team during which she averaged 12 points and eight rebounds. She also represented her motherland at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Australia. Watson finally made it to the big leagues when she signed with WNBA side, Charlotte Sting, in 2001. She spent a year with the franchise during which she suffered a dislocated knee cap and medial collateral ligament. Both injuries would ultimately end her professional career
3. Angie Watson married her husband in 2004.
Watson first met her husband, Bubba Watson, around 2001/2002. She was watching a pickup basketball game at her alma mater while he was one of the players taking part in the game. During the game, Watson was accidentally knocked over by a fellow player and his teammates helped him to get back on his feet. The whole episode provided comic relief and the media personality found Bubba laughing with her. She, therefore, decided to know him better. The two eventually went on a flurry of dates, and later commenced a relationship. The loved-up pair later tied the knot in September 2004. Since then, the couple have been collaborators in all facets of life. Watson previously managed her husband’s career for several years. She also encouraged her husband to persevere after he thought of briefly quitting golf in the year 2017.
4. Angie Watson has adopted two children.
The media personality is medically unable to conceive and she accordingly informed her husband on their first date. Bubba was unfazed by this fact and the couple later tied the knot. After the nuptials, Watson and her husband enrolled in the adoption process in order to start a family. The couple experienced several challenges and were rejected by three birthmothers. They however persevered and have since welcomed two bundles of joy. They are Caleb (adopted in 2012) and Dakota (adopted in 2014). Watson and her husband maintain a semi-open adoption and are in touch with the birthmothers of their children. The couple have since become spokespersons for The National Council for Adoption. They also appeared in an inspiring campaign by the clothing company, Jockey.

Angie Watson was raised in a religious household and remains a devout Christian till this day. The former basketball player has credited her faith with helping her deal with numerous challenges including the several career injuries she suffered. Watson’s deep Christian faith is a trait she shares with her husband. Bubba is a committed Christian and has featured in music videos by several Christian hip-hop artists. The golfer also shares the sentiments of rapper, Lecrae, who once said that he doesn’t want to be a celebrity, he doesn’t want to be a superstar, he just wants to be a middleman for people to see God through him.
6. Angie Watson is one inch taller than her husband.
The former center forward is quite tall, standing at an impressive 6 feet 4 inches (1.93m) tall. Her husband, on the other hand, is 6 feet 3 inches (1.9m) tall. Watson’s tall physique made her a natural for her chosen sport of basketball. The Canadian national reportedly owes her tall frame to an enlarged pituitary gland.
