Smithson Utivich on the set of Inglourious Basterds in 2009 and in 2011, he lent his voice to the character of Baker Smurf in The Smurfs.

Novak was part of the cast in the four episodes of The Mindy Project in 2013, playing the role of Jamie and before the year ran out, he appeared in three other productions – The Internship as a Male Interviewer, The Smurfs 2 as Baker Smurf (voice role), and Saving Mr. Banks in the role of Robert B. Sherman. He did three more projects in 2014, including The Amazing Spider-Man 2 where he played Alistair Smythe, as Mr. Egypt in Community, and as Lucas Pruit in four episodes of the TV series The Newsroom. He did another voice role in 2015, voicing MC in Arthur, his 2016 role was seen in The Founder as the character of Harry J. Sonneborn, and that same year, he started playing Himself in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

BJ Novak Crossed Path With Mindy Kaling While Writing For The Office

It was while writing for The Office in 2004 that BJ Novak met Mindy for the first time. The duo was both 24 years then and according to the Massachusetts native, they started fighting and flirting immediately. In an interview session with Vulture, Novak described their relationship in a funny way, saying that they were never really dating, and were never really not dating. He also said they didn’t know, and no one else knows. The only thing that is certain is that one of them is always found next to the other even when they are not getting along.

Although the timeline of their relationship is not certain, the perpetual fighting/flirting duo has both said that they dated during their early years on the set of The Office, breaking up and getting back together several times over. In 2012, Ming told Vulture that they sort of fell in love while writing for The Office and then proceeded to date on and off for two years, and now, they are just like best friends. They share really funny jokes about each other.

Mindy described their relationship as being like, real best friends. that kind of friendship you have when you are embedded with someone, that you can only get by, putting in that insane amount of time with people.

He said they are not dating but whenever they hoot up with another person, there’s a period where that person becomes very skeptical of their friendship.
