Biography

The star actor was born William Bradley Pitt on December 18, 1963, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He is the eldest of three children born to Jane Etta (a school counselor) and William Alvin (a truck company owner). Raised in Springfield, Missouri, he attended Kickapoo High School and later studied journalism with a specialization in advertising at the University of Missouri. Brad, however, quit school just a few weeks before graduating in order to pursue a career in acting.

Brad Pitt began his acting career in 1987 with minor roles in films such as Less Than Zero, No Way Out, No Man’s Land and the NBC sitcom Another World. The next year, he made a cameo appearance in the movie, 21 Jump Street. His first breakthrough role was as criminal J.D. in the movie Thelma & Louise (1991). Some of Pitt’s prominent works include his role as Louis de Pointe du Lac in Interview with the Vampire (1994), as Tristan Ludlow in Legends of the Fall (1994), as Detective David Mills in the thriller Seven (1995), a supporting role of Jeffrey Goines in 12 Monkeys (1995) which won him a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award nomination. In 2001, he starred in the romantic comedy The Mexican as well as the hit movie Ocean’s Eleven. In 2004, he portrayed the character Achilles, the Greek hero in Troy and Ocean’s Twelve. One of his most successful movies yet is the 2005 action-comedy Mr. & Mrs. Smith in which he starred alongside Angelina Jolie. His performance in the 2006 movie Babel earned him multiple Golden Globe and Academy nominations.

In 2008, Brad Pitt took on the lead role of a protagonist in the hit movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. His outstanding performance in the movie won him several Academy and Golden Globe nominations. The next year, he was cast as Lieutenant Aldo Raine in Inglorious Basterds which earned him a nomination for Best Male Performance at the MTV Movie Award. In 2011, he played the role of Billy Beane in Moneyball.
