Brett Young and Bart Millard both have lots in common. If they both had their ways, both would be in sports today, but serious natural causes saw their lives take different turns. For Young, it would have been baseball, but an unfortunate elbow injury changed his career path completely. Brett Young is an American country pop singer and songwriter from Orange County, California.

His self-titled debut EP was released in February 2016. In 2017, his hit single “In Case You Didn’t Know” was ranked #1 by Country Airplay Chart and had over 1,218,000 sales, securing him a win at the 2018 Academy of Country Music Awards for New Male Vocalist and no less than eight nominations. Let’s show you more about this incredible country singer.

Brett Young’s Bio, Age

Brett Young was born Brett Charles Young in Anaheim, Orange County, California, USA, on March 23, 1981. He attended Calvary Chapel High School in Costa Mesa, California. While in high school, Young played as a pitcher on his high school baseball team and led the squad to a CIF championship. He would later go on to attend the University of Mississippi on a baseball scholarship in 1999; declining pre-draft selections by Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Minnesota Twins.

Following his graduation from high school, Young attended the University of Mississippi, Oxford, Mississipi; Irvine Valley College, Irvine, California and California State University, Fresno. During the one season he spent on the Rebel baseball team in 2000, Young earned a varsity letter and posted two wins and two saves. He then lettered for one season at Irvine Valley before making the move to Fresno. According to sources, Young was cut out to be a professional baseballer, but life had other plans. In the 2003 season, Young’s chances of a successful professional baseball career were thwarted by an elbow injury while playing at California State University, Fresno.

What followed was a fallback to music. Already, Brett Young had a foundation; singing in the Christian fellowship back in high school. It began in the late ‘90s when he was asked to step for an absent band leader during a Christian worship meeting. Young had been inspired by Gavin DeGraw since he first listened to his album. He also drew inspiration from the prolific singer and songwriter, Jeffrey Steele. His resolve saw the independent release of a self-titled four-song EP in 2007; and then another in 2011, Make Believe; then came other albums like Brett Young, On Fire, and Broken Down between 2012 and 2013. Within this period, Young moved to Nashville, Tennessee, the home state of fellow country singer, Brandon Heath. There, in August 2015, he was signed by the Big Machine Label Group.

In February of the following year, Young released a six-song self-titled EP. “Sleep Without You” was released as the first single from the EP in April 2016. In January 2017 he released another single “In Case You Didn’t Know“; which peaked number one on the Country Airplay chart and was certified as a triple Platinum by the RIAA. He released the third single, “Like I Loved You” in July 2017. In September 2018 he released a lead single for the album, “Here Tonight.” The single ranked #1 on the Country Airplay in April of 2019.

In 2017, Brett began taking musical tours around the United States. With him are his drummer, lead guitarist, bass guitarist and several other members of his crew. His musical tours so far include Home Team Tour— together with Thomas Rhett, You Look Good World Tour, Carlinville Tour— alongside Carly Pearce, and Life Changes Tour in 2018. The tour continued into 2019.
