Brook Lopez is a professional basketballer who plays for the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was drafted as the 10th overall by the New Jersey Nets in the 2008 NBA Draft. Having played for over a decade, he has gathered a wealth of experience and is on top of his game. His Early Life and Career Beginnings
Brook Lopez was born as Brook Robert Lopez on April 1, 1988, in North Hollywood. He is one half of a twin and is just one minute older than his brother. He grew up initially at North Hollywood but later moved alongside his family to Fresno, California.
For his educational pursuit, he started at San Joaquin Memorial High School and was very active in the basketball team, his twin brother was also a part of the team. The duo was excellent at the game and was featured in McDonald’s All-American Boys Game in the year 2006.
When it was time for college, the twins enrolled at Stanford University and played perfectly well in the school team. Brook played in over 26 games in his first season in college, averaging 12.6 points in addition to 6.0 rebounds in each game. With this record, he was listed as the All-Pac-10 Freshman Team selection. In his days as a sophomore, he averaged 19.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, in addition to 2.1 blocks in each game. That season, he was also named to the All-Pac-10 First Team and the All-American Third Team.
Brook decided to forgo the remaining two years of his collegiate career with intentions to join the NBA draft in March 2008. With a good record like his, it was with ease that he got selected with the 10th overall pick by the New Jersey Nets in the 2008 NBA Draft.
The professional basketballer started out excellently during his first season, playing in 82 games. He finished the season with 13.0 points, 8.1 rebounds, in addition to 1.9 blocks in each game, earning the All-Rookie first-team selection and he also took the third position during the NBA Rookie Year.
He continued to play perfectly well but was placed off the court after he sustained an injury just before the beginning of the 2011-2012 regular season. He missed out in 32 games, later returned but sustained yet another after featuring in 5 games.
By the 2012-2013 season, Brook renewed a four-year contract with the Nets. That season, he played in 79 games and completed the season with 19.4 points, 6.9 rebounds and a career-high 2.1 blocks in each game. He was named the NBA All-Star Game for the 2013 season.
The following season, he extended his contract with the Nets for another 3 years. He continued playing with the team but was later traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. The baller currently plays for the Milwaukee Bucks.
