The Florida native has so far developed a reputation as an unpredictable player who brings new twists to every tournament he plays. He is also one of the world’s best golfers, gripping tightly to the 8th position in the global ranking. And despite being less of an old player in the game than Tiger Woods having started professionally in 2012 on Challenge Tour in Europe he has been able to not just break different records but has become a record himself. His iconic back-to-back victories between 2012 and 2013 have also provided a more reliable stepping stone in his professional career.
Brooks Koepka was born in Florida and he lived in Lake Worth as a child. He won three events and was a three-time All American. Unlike many 13-year-old Americans, Brooks started taking golf more seriously, practicing for long hours on green courses, and surely he has he seen the reward of his effort.
Just two years into his professional career (2014), he had his first PGA Tour and finished third. That was followed by a fourth place at the U.S Open which earned him an invitation for Masters and PGA Tour deal to play in the 2014-2015 season. He played great courses in that season and finished remarkably well. The same year he was named Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year.
In 2017, the 1.83 m tall athlete who weighs 84kg won his first major championship at Erin Hills Wisconsin. This victory makes him the lowest aggregate score in U.S Open with a winning score of -16 just like Rory McIlroy’s who achieved the same feat in 2011.
Brooks has since bagged 4 Challenge tours, 2 PGA tours, 2 European tours, and several Japan Golf Tours. More of the games he has won include; the Rice Planters Amateur in 2009, Brickyard Collegiate in 2011, and the 2012 Seminole Intercollegiate in Florida.
For his excellent performance over the years, he was ranked 7th golfers in the world at a time, but by 2018, he fell between 8 and 11. Hopefully, he will continue to improve and rank in the world’s top 5. He has also been able to amass $8 to 13 million for himself.
