Channing Frye plays the game of basketball professionally as power forward-centre for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He has also played for a number of other teams and has made an outstanding record with them all. Channing would have had his career blown to the winds as he was diagnosed with a large heart in 2012, but he didn’t let the news slow him down, he returned to the game and has been having a time of his career since then.

His Early Life and Career Beginnings
The basketballer was born to Thomas Frye and Karen Mulzac-Frye as Channing Thomas Frye on May 17, 1983, in White Plains. He went to St Mary’s High School and was rated as No. 13 center in the nation by Fast Break Recruiting Service. Upon graduation from High School, the basketball star attended the University of Arizona. While he was in High school and college, he was referred to as one of the most productive players in his team. Having a successful record as a student-athlete, it was with ease he got into the NBA, Channing was selected by the New York Knicks with the eighth overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft. H has played for a lot of teams in the NBA but currently plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
On and on, Frye played excellently in the court but he also suffered a few injuries which kept him off games. In 2012, he was diagnosed of an enlarged heart and was kept out of games through the 2012 and 2013 seasons. While he was off games, he worked as a broadcaster and took up minimal sports activities playing yoga and golf. He worked on himself and was able to return to games during the latter part of the year 2013.
Apart from being successful in the world of basketball, Channing Frye has a large heart, oops! we are not referring to his heart condition but referring to his ability to live a charitable life. He has reached out to so many lives focusing on both the less privileged and also other humanitarian activities. He established the Channing Frye Foundation having its mission and vision to reach out to the youth. Later on, he founded another named The Frye Family Foundation partnering with his wife. In all this, he has made a name for himself around the globe and is also named after a dish in a restaurant located in Portland.
His Family Background
Aforementioned, Frye was born to Thomas Frye and Karen Mulzac-Frye who are both deceased. He rarely talks about his parents until they both passed on. His mom battled with cancer and died sometime in the month of October 2016 and just 27 days later, his dad died in his room. His mom, Karen was 58 when she passed on and was an Emmy-winning TV reporter and Producer in Phoenix. All through the days of her ailment, Frye never disclosed his mother’s predicament to anyone. Prior to her demise, she was said to have undergone a surgery and also had communicated with Frye, postsurgery. The basketballer never knew that was the last he would hear from her.
On Frye’s dad’s part, he was said to have been doing perfectly fine and had also communicated with his son Frye just before he passed on. According to stories, it was said that Channing Frye was returning from his team’s annual visit to Cleveland Clinic Children’s – Rehabilitation Center when his instincts played a fast one on him to call his dad. He tried everything he could to get in touch with him but he wasn’t picking up. Moreso, there was no one else to call since his dad lived alone after he divorced his late mom. A few days later, Frye’s grandmother found his dad dead on the floor when she came to give him a plate of food for Thanksgiving.
It was later discovered that Thomas Frye died from complications from dilated cardiomyopathy at the age of 64. While he was alive, he co-founded a company which offers support to public and private schools.

His Wife and Kids
Channing Frye found love with Lauren Lisoski who he met in Portland prior to the 2007-2008 NBA season. The two were introduced by a mutual friend, as time went on, they decided to take their friendship a little further. Exactly two years later, they took their vows at Portland Gardens Vineyards on August 14, 2009.
Their union is blessed with two children, Hendrix- a son born on October 4, 2010, and their daughter, Margaux. Margaux was born with vision impairment caused by cataract. According to diagnosis, she couldn’t see within the first eight weeks of her life. As time went on, she underwent several surgeries and currently has regained her vision.
