SHINee counts among the several SM Entertainment music creations. The South Korean all-boys group debuted in May 2008 with their EP titled, Replay. They subsequently released their first studio album titled The Shinee World. Other successful singles and albums followed such as “Ring Ding Dong”, “Lucifer”, The First, Sherlock, and so on. The group has since gained wide recognition in the world of Korean pop, earning the nickname, “Princes of K-pop”. In addition to their songs, SHINee is also popular for their complex dance for which they have thrice received the Best Dance Performance Award. They are also known for their unique fashion style dubbed “Shinee Trend” which they introduced among South Korea students. However, the band which started as a quintet has now become a quartet. Onew is a South Korean singer/vocalist, songwriter, actor, and MC. He was born Lee Jin-ki on 14th December 1989 in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi, South Korea. The singer specializes in K-pop, R&B, and ballad. He joined SM Entertainment in 2006 after he passed the year’s SM Academy Casting auditioning. The agency subsequently selected him as a member of SHINee in 2008. He is the leader of the group and one of its lead vocalists.

Key is a South Korean singer, actor, TV presenter, and fashion designer. He was born as Kim Ki-bum on 23rd September 1991 in Daegu, South Korea. Key trained in K-pop, PBR&B, and electronic music. The artist joined SHINee in 2008 after passing the S.M. National Tour Audition Casting. He serves as a vocalist, as well as the lead rapper, and dancer on the band. Key is also a member of the music subgroup, Toheart. As an actor, he has featured in several musicals, theater plays, films, television series, and shows including Bonnie & Clyde (2013), Zorro (2014), and Chess (2015), M Countdown (2015-2017), Drinking Solo (2016), The Guardians (2017), and so on.

Minho

Minho is a member of SHINee who works on the band as a vocalist, main rapper and visual. He was born Choi Min-ho on 9th December 1991 in Incheon, South Korea. After a successful audition at SM Casting System in 2006, Minho joined the band in May 2008. In addition to singing, Minho is also a songwriter, rapper, actor, and MC. He has featured in several TV series/shows and films such as Dream Team, To the Beautiful You, Medical Top Team, My First Time, Canola, Show! Music Core, and many others.

Taemin

A South Korean singer, dancer, and actor, Taemin specialized in K-pop, R&B, and J-pop. He serves as one of SHINee’s lead vocalists and main dancers. Taemin, who was born on 18th July 1993, is the youngest member of the band. He debuted with the group in 2008 at the young age of 14. His birth name is Lee Tae-min. Aside from his band releases, Taemin has accomplished several successful solo projects including three studio albums and five extended plays, among numerous singles and music videos.

What Happened To Kim Jong-hyun?

The SHINee music group lost one of their members, Jong-hyun on Monday, the 18th of December, 2017. Jong-hyun who was the group’s main vocalist, died of poisoning arising from carbon monoxide. He was found unconscious in his apartment on the evening of the said date and later died in the hospital where he was taken to for treatments.

Some weeks before he died, the singer left a note which suggested he was going through chronic depression and pressure that comes with fame and the competitive Korean entertainment world. According to the singer, he was so alone and could no longer defeat the depression that lowly engulfed his entire being. He also sent a text message which he called his last word to his sister before the sad incident.

The late singer who died at 27, was born as Kim Jong-hyun on 8th April 1990. Debuting with SHINee in May 2008, he served as the band’s main vocalist for nine years. He also worked as a songwriter, record producer, author, and radio host. Aside from working with SHINee, Jong-hyun accomplished several solo projects including an EP, two studio albums and several singles.

Following his death, SHINee’s bandmates went through difficult times emotionally which caused them to contemplate disbanding. They, however, later summoned the courage to continue as a quartet. To help themselves cope with the loss, each of the band members underwent therapy. The group subsequently released their first project without Jong-hyun, an EP titled The Story of Light on 28th May 2018. Prior to the four-man comeback, the band celebrated their 10th Anniversary on the 25th of May, 2018.
