Who Is Dallas Goedert, American Football Tight End? Here are 6 Facts To Know

Dallas Goedert is a professional American footballer currently playing for the Philadelphia Eagles as a tight end in the National Football League (NFL). He made it to the team’s active roster after he selected as the 49th overall pick in the 2nd round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Prior to his stint with the Eagles, the footballer represented his high school in several competitions and also played with the South Dakota State University’s college football team.

Who Exactly Is Dallas Goedert?

He is an athlete who rose to immense popularity after he was discovered by NFL – many thanks to his deep knowledge of the oval leather game and years of experience on the field. He arrived into the world on July 3, 1995, in America, precisely in Britton, South Dakota, where he was born to Mary Carlson (mother) and an American young man whose identity is not known.

Immediately Goedert grew to high school age, he was enrolled at the Britton-based school, Britton-Hecla High School, where he actively took part in soccer, basketball, and football games and competitions. With the help of teammates, he was able to carve out a niche for himself in high school, as he excelled in all the sports he featured in. Though the defensive end would have excelled in basketball if he hadn’t found a career in football, Dallas only picked interest in joining the NFL after he was encouraged by his mother to give the sport a try.

Mary had argued that football was a better sport and the only one that could give her son a better opportunity to thrive and shine before recruiters since it has 22 starters while basketball has only five. But Dallas would later discover that it was his mom’s subtle way of telling him that he is too short to play centre or forward in the basketball league.

6 Facts To Know About The Footballer

Family

Dallas was raised in a large family, where he spent his childhood surrounded by his mom, cousins, grandfather, and other maternal relations. His maternal grandfather, Gordon Philips, contributed immensely towards his upbringing alongside his daughter (Dallas mother, Mary Carlson). He has also been very supportive of his football career right from day one. Though Goedert’s father wasn’t part of his life in his younger years, he is said to be a fan of Dallas Cowboys football team and that he named the footballer “Dallas” because of his love for the Cowboys.

Goedert’s stepfather, Gary Carlson supports the Green Bay Packers football team. Mary got married to Gary after she had the footballer. The couple has been together since then, making the most of their lives and while supporting their son in his career.

He was a member of the school’s football team and was well-known for his skills. He gained 198 receptions for 2,988 yards and 21 touchdowns, including two straight 1,000-yard receiving. He was subsequently made the captain of the team in his senior year, having started all 14 games of the season.
