Dan Reynolds is a multi-talented American musician who is an expert in vocals, songwriting, record producing and playing multiple instruments. Reynolds is popular as the frontman of Las Vegas-based rock band, Imagine Dragons. Meanwhile, taking the career path of music was his most difficult life decision, considering his background in a family of academics.
He, however, pulled through the challenges and has ended up becoming one of the rock musicians the world can reckon with. The Grammy award-winning singer, Dan Reynolds is married to Aja Volkman, a singer and songwriter. She has become known over the years for her exploits as the frontwoman of Nico Vega, an Indie rock band. Volkman was born to parents, James Volkman and Rogene Manas in Eugene, Oregon, the United States, on March 4th, 1980. Upon completion of her basic education at South Eugene High School, she started her music career pursuit.
Following her solo performance at a music event in 2005, she was approached by Michael Peña, with whom she formed Nico Vega in 2007 along with drummer, Dan Epand. Prior to Michael’s departure from the band, they signed to MySpace Records, which is now defunct, and released an eponymous album in 2009. The same year, they performed on Last Call with Carson Daly and then embarked on multiple tours in the ensuing years.
After signing to Five Seven Music, Nico Vega recorded huge success with their song ‘Beast’ released in 2013. The song was featured in BioShock Infinite commercials and consequently, had over five million combined downloads and streams. The next year, the band dropped a second album titled ‘Lead To Light’ which spawned singles such as ‘I Believe’ and ‘Lightning’. Later on, Dan Reynolds’ wife and her bandmate, Dan Epand formed a new band called Two and released an Extended Play titled ‘Pull The Knife Out’ in July 2020.
She Launched A Solo Career In 2015
While still a member of Nico Vega, Aja Volkman began developing materials for her solo album in the year 2015. Two years later, she dropped her first solo album ‘Sandy’, along with lead single titled ‘My Man’. Before becoming a soloist, Volkman and her husband formed a music duo called “Egyptian” under which they independently released a four-track eponymous digital EP in 2011 and also performed the EP at the M Resort situated in Las Vegas.

Dan Reynolds tied the knot with Aja Volkman on 5th March 2011. He met Volkman in 2010 when Imagine Dragons opened for her band, Nico Vega. The two became friends after Reynolds asked Volkman to assist him with some demos he was working on. With Aja Volkman, Dan Reynolds has four children – three girls and a son. Their first daughter, Arrow Eve Reynolds was born on August 18, 2012. The couple later welcomed a set of twin girls – Gia and Coco on 28th March 2017.
Following the birth of their twins, Reynolds and Volkman announced that they were on the verge of getting a divorce, sparking curiosity among fans. The divorce, however, ended up not materializing as the musician revealed during the release of Imagine Dragons’ single, ‘Bad Liar’ on 6th November 2018 that they have sorted out their differences. The reconciled couple later announced that they were expecting their fourth child and first son in October 2019 and their son Valentine joined the family on October 1, 2019.
Reynolds’ Imagine Dragon Was Projected To A Wider Audience In 2010
Although Reynolds initially did not intend to make music a profession, his passion for the art caused him to create the Imagine Dragons rock band in 2008. With this group, he won BYU’s Battle of the Bands contest. Following this, Reynolds, who discovered he could do nothing else but music, dropped out of school to pursue a full-time music career.
Dan Reynolds with his bandmates later relocated to Las Vegas where they performed at night events. The band soon landed her big break in 2010 when the lead vocalist of San Francisco rock band, Train, became ill ahead of the Bite of Las Vegas Festival. Train then asked Imagine Dragons to perform on their behalf during the fete which attracted a crowd of over 26,000; thus, shooting them to the limelight.

In 2011, Imagine Dragons signed with Interscope Records where they started working under famous record producer, Alexander Grant. They soon released their debut single titled, ‘It’s Time’ in August 2012 and it peaked at No. 15 on US Billboard Hot 100 and has sold more than 3 million units in the United States. Next, they dropped their debut studio album, ‘Night Visions’ in September 2012.
‘Night Visions’ turned out to be a great hit, earning the band multiple awards, including Grammy’s Best Rock Performance, Teen Choice Award’s Choice Rock Group, World Music Award’s World’s Best Rock Act, and so on. ‘Radioactive’ was the album’s greatest hit, topping Billboard Rock Songs chart for 23 weeks, charting on Billboard Hot 100 for 87 weeks, and receiving Diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It was also a top-ten chart-topping single in many countries, including Sweden, Australia, and Germany.
The album’s third single ‘Demon’ sold over 5 million copies in the US, hence, becoming the eighth best-selling rock song in digital history. Later in 2015, Reynolds, with his band, came up with their second album, ‘Smoke+Mirror’, with ‘I Bet My Life’ and ‘Shots’ as its most popular singles. The band followed up with their third album, ‘Evolve’ in 2017. Of all the album’s singles, ‘Thunder’, ‘Believer’, and ‘Whatever It Takes’ were the most successful.
In 2018, Imagine Dragons released ‘Origins’, their fourth studio album. It debuted at No. 2 on Billboard 200 and featured hit singles like ‘Natural’ and ‘Bad Liar’. The same year, the band won iHeartRadio’s Alternative Rock Artists of the Year award alongside two Grammy nominations.

Still a member of Imagine Dragons and signed to Interscope records, Dan Reynolds created Night Street Records label, an imprint label associated with Interscope Records in 2016. The record label signed their first artist, K. Flay in the same year. She is a popular singer, rapper and songwriter who is known for releasing chart-topping debut album ‘Life as a Dog’ in 2014. Upon joining Night Street Records, she released an EP titled ‘Crush Me’, followed by the album ‘Every Where Is Some Where’ in 2017. Her third studio album ‘Solutions’ was dropped in July 2019.

After founding his record label, Reynolds launched LOVELOUD, an annual charity fete aimed at promoting the acceptance of LGBT youths, as well as curbing teen suicide. The first version of the festival came off in Orem, Utah, on August 26, 2017. The second was held at Salt Lake City on 28th July 2018, with the state governor eventually declaring the date “Loveloud Day” in Utah.
