Dan Reynolds is a multi-talented American musician who specializes in vocals, songwriting, record producing and multiple instruments. Reynolds is popular as the frontman of Las Vegas-based rock band, Imagine Dragons. Meanwhile, taking the career path of music was Reynold’s most difficult life decision considering his coming from a family of academicians. Dan Reynolds was born on 14th July 1987 in Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S.A. His full name is Daniel Coulter Reynolds. He is one of the nine children (comprising a girl and eight boys) of Ronald and Christene Reynolds. Being the seventh child, Dan has six older siblings and two younger ones.
Dan Reynolds grew up in Las Vegas where he attended the Bonanza High School in Las Vegas Valley. Meanwhile, he started doing music at 12. He also joined the Boys Scout, reaching the rank of Eagle Scout at 18; that was in 2005.
On completing high school, Reynolds enrolled at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. At 19, Dan who attended The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints (LDS) joined the Mormon Missionary in Nebraska, serving as a full-time volunteer for two years. He did so mainly to escape from the numerous troubles his budding musical career was landing him into. After his missionary service, Reynolds changed to LDS-owned Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Despite doing very well in his studies, Dan could not keep his eyes off music.
Although Reynolds initially did not intend making music a profession, his passion for the art continued to grow, causing him to create the “Imagine Dragons” rock band in 2008. With his group, he won BYU’s Battle of the Bands contest. Following this, Reynolds who discovered he could do nothing else but music, dropped out of school to pursue a full-time musical career.
On leaving BYU, Dan Reynolds with his bandmates relocated to Las Vegas where they performed at night events. The band soon landed her big break in 2010 when the lead vocalist of San Francisco rock band, “Train” became ill ahead of the Bite of Las Vegas Festival. Train then asked Imagine Dragons to perform on their behalf during the fete which attracted a crowd of over 26,000; thus shooting them to the limelight.
In 2011, Imagine Dragons signed with Interscope Records where they started working under famous record producer, Alexander Grant. They soon after, released their debut single titled, “It’s Time” in August 2012, followed by their debut studio album, Night Visions in September 2012. Night Visions turned out a great hit, earning the band multiple awards including Grammy’s Best Rock Performance, Teen Choice Award’s Choice Rock Group, World Music Award’s World’s Best Rock Act, and so on. “Radioactive” was the album’s greatest hit, topping Billboard Rock Songs chart for 23 weeks, charting on Billboard Hot 100 for 87 weeks, and receiving Diamond certification from RIAA.
In 2015, Reynolds with his band came up with their second album, Smoke+Mirror., with “I Bet My Life” and “Shots” as its most popular singles. The band followed up with their third album, Evolve in 2017. Of all the album’s singles, “Thunder”, “Believer”, and “Whatever It Takes” were the most successful. In 2018, Imagine Dragons released Origins, their fourth studio album. The same year, the band won iHeartRadio’s Alternative Rock Artists of the Year award alongside two Grammy nominations.

Reynolds met Volkman in 2010 when Imagine Dragons opened for Nico Vega, an indie rock band. The two became friends after Reynolds asked Volkman to assist him with some demos he was working on then.
