Who Is Daniela Ruah?
Daniela was born on December 2, 1983, as Daniela Sofia Korn Ruah. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts, the United States to Portuguese and Jewish parents who are both specialists in the medical field. Her father, Moises Ruah is an ENT surgeon while her mother, Katharina Korn is an otologist. Daniela grew up in Portugal after her parents left Boston for their hometown when she was five. There, she attended St. Julian’s School.
Daniela Ruah’s acting career started at age 16 when she began starring in telenovelas and soap operas. Her debut acting role was as Sara in Jardins Proibidos (Forbidden Gardens), a soap opera.
At the age of 18 (in 2001), she enrolled at the London Metropolitan University to study Performing Arts. When she was done, she returned to her home country, Portugal and continued her acting career there, landing lead roles in theater, TV series, and short films. During this period, she won Dança Comigo, the Portuguese version of the celebrity dancing competition, Dancing with the Stars.
To acquire more expertise in her field, Daniela Ruah left for New York in 2007 to study at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. Two years later, she landed a big role with CBS in their soap opera titled NCIS: Los Angeles, starring as NCIS special agent, Kensi Blye. The TV series first came live on September 22, 2009, and she has so far played 10 seasons on the reality show. Daniela Ruah has also played the same character (Kensi Blye) in two other series: NCIS (2003) and as a guest star in Hawaii Five-0 (2010).
In 2012, Ruah made her biggest movie appearance on Anthony Hemingway’s war film, Red Tails. She also starred in David Auburn’s 2013 dramatic play Proof at the Hayworth Theatre, Los Angeles. On May 12, 2018, Daniela Ruah did her first TV hosting when she co-hosted the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, Portugal. The show was live all over Europe, Israel, and Australia, earning her more popularity.
Meet Her Husband and Family
Daniela Ruah is married to David Paul Olsen, a Norwegian-American superstar stuntman and former U.S. Navy Seal. David Paul Olsen and Daniela Ruah first met on the set of NCIS: Los Angeles where his younger brother, Eric Christian Olsen was also starring. Interestingly, while Eric Olsen was Ruah’s fiance on the show, David Olsen was Eric’s double stunt. David is also famous for his roles in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2016) and Swiss Army Man (2016).
For Daniela and David, it was love at first sight and so without much ado, they started dating. That was in 2010 and three years later, they got engaged. The next year (2014), on the 19th of June, the lovebirds tied the knot in Portugal. Their marriage was an interfaith ceremony as David is Lutheran while Daniela is Jewish. The couple now has two kids together – a son, River Isaac Ruah Olsen and a daughter, Sierra Esther Ruah Olsen. River was born on December 30, 2013, about six months before his parent’s wedding.
In October 2015, Daniela lost a 9-week-old pregnancy but was soon after blessed with another pregnancy. On September 4, 2016, the couple welcomed their second child and first daughter, Sierra. They have since been living together in Illinois, United States, with no news of any marital issues.
