David West – Wife, Net Worth & Body Measurements

David West is a veteran professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association with the Golden State Warriors.

The two-time NBA All-Star, who has previously played for the Indiana Pacers and the New Orleans Hornets (now Pelicans), had a very impressive college basketball career before entering the league which led his number 30 jersey to be retired.

Early Life

David West was born David Moorer West to Harriet and Amos West on August 29, 1980, in Teaneck, New Jersey. He attended Garner Magnet High School in Garner, North Carolina before moving to Chatham, Virginia where he enrolled at Hargrave Military Academy. He played basketball for his school and as a senior, earned first-team all-state honours.

He went on to attend Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio where he played for the Xavier Musketeers men’s basketball team. West was dominant in his freshman year as he led the Atlantic 10 conference in rebounding and finished the season as the fourth highest scorer on his team. He was subsequently named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team.

David West continued his dominance in his sophomore year, this time leading the team in scoring, rebounding, and blocks. He also had five 20-point, 20-rebound games throughout that season, making him the undisputed winner of the A-10 Player of the Year award. He went on to win the award again in his junior and senior years to become the first three-time recipient.

His other notable achievements in college include being named three times to the First-team All-Atlantic 10, Consensus First-Team All-American (2003), AP National Player of the Year (2003) and National Player of the Year by the United States Basketball Writers Association (2003).

After a very successful college career, West was selected with the 18th overall pick by the New Orleans Hornets in the 2003 NBA Draft. After two seasons of getting used to professional basketball, West eventually began to live up to expectation as his performances in the 2005-06 season earned him second place in the NBA Most Improved Player Award voting.

His stats continued to improve in the following season as he recorded thirteen 20-point games and five 30-point games. That continued into the 2007-08 season which led to him being selected to play at the NBA All-Star game. In the 2008-09 season, West averaged a career-high 21 points per game, leading to his second All-Star appearance.

David West played a total of eight seasons in New Orleans before in June 2011, he opted out of the final year of his contract to become a free agent. Following the calling off of the 2011 NBA lockout, West joined the Indiana Pacers on a two-year contract worth $20 million. At the end of that contract, West resigned with the team as it had built a team that could challenge LeBron James and the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference. However, after losing back to back Conference Finals, West opted out of his contract to again become a free agent.

His next stop was San Antonio where he played just one year for the Spurs before electing to join the Golden State Warriors. He was a key bench player to the side as they entered the playoffs as the top seed before going on to win the 2017 NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

What Is David West’s Net Worth?

David West currently earns the veteran minimum salary of $2.3 million from the Warriors. His net worth is, however, way higher than that figure as it is estimated to be around $28 million thanks to his previous NBA contract which had him taking home around $6 million every year.

West has also made significant investments in real estate, renewable energy and stocks to ensure his financial security going forward.
