Dick Van Dyke’s Biography & Age
Richard Wayne Van Dyke, also known as Dick Van Dyke, was born in West Plains, Missouri in the United States of America on December 12, 1925.
Van Dyke’s father, Loren Wayne “Cookie” Van Dyke was a Salesman all his life, and died in 1976. His mother is Hazel Victoria Van Dyke (née McCord), who died in 1992.
Van Dyke’s mother came from a very religious home, and she tried to instill the same beliefs in her children and family. She took her children to church so many times that Van Dyke wanted to become a preacher when he grew up, but that thought soon vanished when he was in high school and he had taken part in a few theater plays. He knew right then, that he wanted to become a professional entertainer when he grew up.
Dick Van Dyke left high school in his senior year, in 1944, during World War II, with the intention of joining the United States Army Armed Forces and serve as a pilot during the war, but unfortunately, he was not enlisted into the corp as he was considered underweight. After several disappointments with his enlistment, he was eventually allowed to join the Armed Forces, but only as a radio announcer. He later transferred to the Special Services unit where he used his entertainment skills and talent to entertain the troops. He returned back to school later on in life to complete his high school education at 78.
After working in the entertainment industry for several decades, Dick Van Dyke has definitely made a name for himself in Hollywood and the world at large, and he has also garnered wealth and recognition along the way.
He is worth about $50 million, mainly gotten from the several movies and television shows he has featured in over the years. Several sources believe that his net worth maybe a little bit higher given his stature in the industry.
