She had earlier caught the acting bug while featuring in plays in her local church. In order to further hone her skills, Erica joined Yaletown Actors Studio where she would eventually meet coach David Palffy who later became her husband.
Erica Durance’s acting career started off with background work, gradually extending to commercials, and then guest-starring roles. Her first TV role was as a dancer in the 2001 thriller series Lone Gunmen. Her feature film debut came the next year in the movie The Untold. Afterwards, The Chris Isaak Show – a comedy series and The Collector – a supernatural series featured her as a guest star. The actress’ character in Tru Calling was a contender in a beauty contest opposite actress Eliza Dushku. She came on SyFy channel in Andromeda, portraying the character of an intergalactic librarian.

Durance’s first breakout role came in 2004 when she was cast as Lois Lane on the popular CW television series, Smallville. Joining the cast in season four, Erica Durance starred as the sassy, street-smart teenage Lois Lane for more than 140 episodes on the long-running hit series. After playing a recurring role in the fourth season, the next one saw her promoted to series regular and she became part of the cast for the remainder of the entire series run. Not only was Durance the lead actress on the TV series which became one of the most-watched Canadian dramas that year, but she was also the producer and directed the season four episode titled Torn and Frayed. During the third season, her real-life pregnancy was worked into her character and the series. The series which started in June 2012 ended its run in 2017. The Canadian actress has been married twice. Durance’s first marriage was to Wesley Parker in the year 1996 but the union was short-lived as they went their separate ways barely three years later. Durance and Parker’s union produced no offspring.
However, the actress found love again in 2005 in the arms of actor, director, and writer David Palffy who is also a Canadian but of Welsh-Hungarian descent. When asked how she has been juggling motherhood and her career, the actress said that being a mother is not completely new territory for her as she became a mother to a teenager at marriage and having her own doesn’t seem to make much difference as the joggling has since been going on, but they just love it.
