The English man is not just an accomplished screen and stage actor but he is also a musician, dancer, and instrumentalist. Gary Carr was born on the 11th of December 1986 in South London, U.K. He grew up in London and developed a passion for acting at an early age. He, therefore, structured his education in such a way as to hone his skills. The young Carr joined the National Youth Music Theatre where he took part in a play titled For Walls. From there, he moved to the Croydon Youth Theatre Organisation (CYTO) where he participated in several plays as well.

In 2003, Gary Carr enrolled at the Arts Education and Performing Arts College for his A-levels. He also featured in several school productions while there and graduated in 2005. On graduating, Carr won a scholarship to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He spent three years at the institution during which he featured in plays such as Twelfth Night, Romeo and Juliet, The Country Wife and The Caucasian Chalk Circle. He received his Bachelors of Arts degree, with honours, in 2008.

Gary Carr commenced his professional acting career just a year after leaving school; making his debut in an episode of the TV series, Holby City, in 2009. After that, the Londoner scored guest appearances in other TV series including Law & Order: UK, Foyle’s War, and Planet of The Apemen. Carr landed his first recurring role in 2011 on the BBC series, Death in Paradise. Death in Paradise is a comedy/crime drama about a bunch of law enforcement officers in the fictional Caribbean island of Saint Marie.

In the series, Carr played the role of Fidel Best, an enthusiastic but naive detective whose doggedness often helps to solve cases. Carr portrayed the role from season one up until season three when he left the show. The news of his departure saddened several fans but did not surprise his co-stars.
