American professional basketball player, George Hill has had his presence strongly felt in the National Basketball Association (NBA) where he has had high distinctions as a result of his outstanding skills. San Antonio Spurs was the first team to draft the player in 2008 and he has proven himself over the years, not just with the Spurs but other notable teams.
After three seasons with the Spurs, Hill proceeded to Indiana Pacers where he played for five years. Before he finally made his way to Cleveland Cavaliers, he had an impressive stint with the Sacramento Kings.
Basketball was a childhood dream for the player who was born on May 4, 1986, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Like many of his counterparts, he had some legendary players like Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and others, as his role models. He would participate in basketball games at Broad Ripple High School where he schooled and became one of the best players in the state of Indianapolis. That cadre had a name – The Magnificent Seven – which included notable basketballers in the persons of; Rodney Carney, Eric Gordon, Courtney Lee, Greg Oden, Mike Conley, Jr., and Josh McRoberts.
Hill could see a more visible path after high school when he started getting scholarship offers from reputable schools. Although they didn’t offer, he chose to enroll at the Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis (IUPUI), to be able to stay close to his grandfather. He proved himself through his dashing skills at the college’s IUPUI Jaguars. After missing a season due to an injury in his third year, he returned the following season and led the Jaguars to 26 wins. He also led the team to the Summit League Tournament where they finally lost to champions, Oral Roberts University.
He made his debut in the NBA in 2008 when he was drafted by San Antonio Spurs as their 26th pick during the first round. His first stint at the Spurs, a summer league, saw him record 17 points and 8 rebounds. It may not have been good enough but Hill’s 2010/11 season with the team ended in higher points of up to 30 during the clash with Houston Rockets.
His next move was to Utah Jazz on a three-team trade, which lasted for a year. His remarkable feat at the club earned him the Western Conference Player of the Week title which was conferred on him after a one-week tournament. Hill subsequently moved to Sacramento Kings on a one-year stint before he finally proceeded to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
George Hill’s Net Worth, Salary
For a basketball player of his calibre, an estimated net worth of $32 million is just right for George Hill. The renowned player reportedly earns as high as $2 million as his annual salary and has a lot of running endorsement deals with reputable brands.
Some of these deals include that with Peak Sports US from which the player also created his own line of sneakers -PEAK GH3. George also has a lot of investments which are not mentioned here. He did a couple of advertisements for Indiana Members Credit Union.
Family – Wife, Kids
Hill is another private basketballer who keeps his personal life away from the prying eyes of the media. But what cannot be hidden forever is the fact that he has a girlfriend.
Hill is dating Samantha Garcia, a Brazilian who grew up in Texas, USA. According to reports, the couple met over 8 years ago when George was playing at San Antonio Spurs. He had bumped into her and they started out as friends, and later on became more than friends; and are still together.
Considering their long-term relationship, sources often mistake Samantha to be the wife of the basketballer. A more compelling reason being that Samantha and George already have two children. They welcomed their first child – a son, Zayden Jaxon Hill in January 2016 and their second child – a daughter, Zoë Jessie Hill in January 2018.
Like her beau, Samantha also attended Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis. Five years after they started dating, George and Samantha graduated from the boyfriend/girlfriend level to being engaged when the player proposed to his girl in 2016.
Height, Weight, Body Statistics

- George Hill is an only child of his mother Tina Hill Woods. Not much is known about his father.
- When Hill opted for NBA drafting he still had one-year eligibility left. But the undeterred player who at the time, was known as the fifth all-time leading scorer at IUPUI went for it.
