George W. Bush is the 43rd United States President. Prior to securing the Presidency seat, he contested in the Texas gubernatorial election in 1994 and emerged victoriously. After serving for one term, George W. Bush stepped down in 2000 as he contested in the US presidential election in the same year and emerged as the winner, serving from 2001 to 2009.

As a businessman, the former US was a co-owner of a baseball team called Texas Rangers and also founded an oil company, Bush Exploration in the ’80s. George W. Bush has authored multiple books including A Charge to Keep, 41: A Portrait of My Father, Decision Points, Portraits of Courage and others. In spite of the loss, George W. Bush resiliently ran for Texas gubernatorial seat in 1994 and emerged victoriously, serving from 1995 to 2000. He further declared candidacy for the 2000 US Presidential election, which he won with a narrow margin and was eventually re-elected in 2004 for a second term.

Eight months after he became President, the 9/11 attack took place. Bush responded by going to war in Afghanistan and Iraq. During his administration, he enforced the law of broad tax cuts, the Patriot Act and many others. His administration, however, was criticised based on the manner by which he managed the economy which led to one of the worst economic crisis recorded in the history of America as well as the improper handling of Hurricane Katrina. After he was succeeded by Barack Obama, Bush and his family moved to Texas and settled down in Preston Hollow, Dallas.

Later on, he met his now wife, Laura Bush, an American educator and after courting for three months, the couple exchanged marital vows on 5th November 1977. Four years later, their union was blessed with twin daughters, Barbara and Jenna Bush.

Barbara serves as the co-owner of the Global Health Corps, where she works as an executive of the non-profit organisation. While her sister, Jenna is a journalist and author.
