  • You must be a Ghanaian citizen by birth
  • You must be of good character with no criminal record

What Are The Requirements For Ghana Immigration Service?

Here are the requirements one has to meet to join the service in the different categories:  BSc, HND, and non-graduate entry levels.

 Requirements For Non-Graduate (Entry Levels)

Everyone who wishes to get into GIS at a non-graduate entry-level will have to meet the following requirements:

  • The person must be from Ghana (a Ghanaian citizen by birth) and have no criminal record
  • Must have SSSCE/WASSCE Certificate with Five (5) passes including either English OR Maths
  • Must be of a minimum age of 18 and not more than 30 years at the time of application
  • Must be mentally and physically fit
  • Must be of good character and NOT be bonded
  • Must be 1.73 metres (5ft 8in) tall for males and 1.63 metres (5ft 4in) for females

Requirements For Diploma Entry

For diploma certificate holders, who intend to get into GIS, you will need to have these requirements

  • You must be a Ghanaian by birth
  • Have no criminal records
  • You must possess a diploma from a reputable institution
  • You must have completed National Service
  • Be of a minimum age of 18 and not more than 30 years by the time you are applying
  • You must be physically and medically fit
  • You must be of good character and NOT be bonded
  • You must be at least 173 cm (5ft 8in) tall for males and at least 163 cm (5ft 4in) tall if you are female.

Requirements For HND Entry

To get into GIS as an HND holder, you need to have these requirements

  • You must be Ghanaian by birth
  • You must have no criminal record
  • You must possess Higher National Diploma (HND) from an accredited institution
  • You must have completed National Service
  • Be of a minimum age of 18 and not more than 30 years as at the time of application
  • You must be physically and medically fit
  • Must be of good character and be not bonded
  • Must be at least 173 cm (5ft 8in) if you are male and 163 cm (5ft 4in) if you are female

Requirements For Graduate Entry

If you wish to get into The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) at graduate-level you will have to meet the following requirements:

  • You must be a Ghanaian citizen by birth
  • Have no criminal record
  • You must possess a first degree from an accredited university
  • You must be a minimum of 21 years and not more than 35 years as at the time of application

  • You must be physically and medically fit

How To Apply For Ghana Immigration Service

Applying for a job in GIS is no rocket science, it is as easy as taking the following steps that will be highlighted below but before then, here are things you need to get ready before proceeding with the application.

List Of Documents Required For The Application

  • Electronic voucher (costing GH¢ 100)
  • Passport size photograph (200×180 pixels dimension of JPEG/JPG format with size not exceeding 2.0 MB ready to be uploaded)
  • Copy of your certificate (SSSCE/WASSCE, Diploma, HND, Degree)

Step By Step Application Procedure

Step 1: To begin the application process you must have purchased the E-voucher sold for One Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢ 100.00). On your internet-enabled device log on to
 https://www.gisrecruitments.com/ to fill in the required information

Step 2: Once you login onto the dashboard, locate the section to fill in the serial number on the voucher to kick off the application properly.

Step 3: Ensure to fill out all the information required on the application form and upload a passport-sized photograph then click on the submit button to submit your online application

NB: While filling the form, take note of the sections marked with an asterisk (*), they are mandatory and can not be skipped, so ensure they are filled out properly before clicking on the NEXT button to proceed to the next stage until the entries are completed and submitted.

Ensure that you review the whole application form to make sure you filled in the accurate information before you click the submit button. If there are mistakes or things to change just click on the EDIT button.

How And Where To Purchase Ghana Immigration Service Application E-Voucher

The GIS electronic voucher can be bought through two ways: bank or USSD

Bank Method

GIS Electronic Voucher costs One Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢ 100.00) and can be purchased at any of the various branches of the GCB Bank Ltd scattered across the country.

USSD Method

If you don’t want to go to the bank, you can actually purchase the voucher from the comfort of your home or wherever you are using a USSD code.

  • Dial the short code *422*473# from your mobile phone
  •  Follow the prompt and allow payment via mobile money on all mobile networks
  • After the payment has been confirmed to be successful, a Serial Number & Pincode will be sent via SMS alert to you
  • Visit https://www.gisrecruitments.com/ with the serial number/code to fill in all the required information

NB: If you purchased more than one voucher, you’ll need to use the same email address and details used in purchasing the earlier voucher as the information will not change. What this means is that even with the new serial number and pin, you will access your already existing account when logged in.
