You may have heard about the sports javelin, high jump, long jump, shot put, sprint and the 800-meter race, but only very few know these events are also parts of a single sport; heptathlon. The heptathlon is usually a two-day sporting event basically consisting of seven events, three of which are races; 200M and 800M sprints, as well as a 100M hurdles event. More so, it involves high jump, shot put, javelin throw and long jump. Those who participate in the heptathlon are expected to master all of these sports in great detail and to deliver on both track and field. Some athletes have successfully carved out a niche for themselves in this space, one of those being the Estonian Heptathlete, Grete Šadeiko.

Šadeiko was not only ranked fourth worldwide in the 2010 World Junior Championships in Moncton, Canada, she also ranked fifth in the 2015 European U23 Championships in Tallinn, Estonia; with a record high 5813 points in the heptathlon. But more than that, Šadeiko is more proud to be addressed as a wife of popular NFL quarterback, Robert Griffin III, and mother of their daughter. Read on, as we tell you more about the talented athlete.

Career

However, Šadeiko seemed rusty as she emerged ninth place in the Championships. Five whopping steps away from her previous fourth place.

Since 2013, Šadeiko has been on the Seminole track team. After a while recovering from injury, 2014, saw her come back stronger; when she broke a 24-year-old Florida State University heptathlon record. The following year, she emerged fifth place—with 5813 points in the European U23 Championships for Heptathlon; which held in Tallinn, Estonia. Since 2014, she’s been second-team All-American for two consecutive years.
