Zizo Beda, former Miss South Africa Teen and a television presenter known for hosting the Selimathunzi (the SABC1 music shows), and Mayihlome Tshwete, a spokesperson of the Department of Home Affairs were joined together in what was described as a fairytale wedding in 2015. However, things took a nose-dive after a few years and despite all attempts made by both families to resolve their issues, they seem to be heading for a divorce. Though the couple has maintained silence on their impending divorce, a close source has gone ahead to spill the beans on them.
They First Met at a Birthday Party
It was at the Durban home of a onetime controversial SA Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba that Zizo Beda and Mayihlome Tshwete’s love story began. This was revealed by Zizo in a rather animated interview session at Kaya FM where she was quizzed about the onset of their love life. According to the former Miss South Africa Teen, she was at the 40th birthday party of the former minister as a representative of her television show Selimathunzi while Mayihlome was among the organizing committee. One might be right to surmise that their meeting was orchestrated by fate and providence as they each had different reasons for being at the bash.
It was Tshwete who accost the South African beauty and though she couldn’t remember his initial statement, Zizo said she agreed to his request to buy a drink for her. At first, the former beauty queen was skeptical about Mayihlome’s real intentions as dating was not part of her immediate plans; her major focus then was building a strong career. Even though she let it pass, fate came calling a second time when their path crossed again in Johannesburg and that marked the beginning of their love story
Zizo Beda and Mayihlome Tshwete Dated For Three Years Before They Got Married
Zizo Beda said she played hard to get for a while, but things progressed as they continued to talk and go on occasional dates. With time, a friendship developed into love and they commenced dating which lasted for three years. When the duo finally decided to exchange the forever commitment, they spared no expenses.
Their wedding which became the talk of the town was done in two stages. The first happened on the 11th of December 2015 and it was a western-themed wedding ceremony hosted at the Gonubie Manor in East London. The officiating church was St Saviour’s Anglican Church located in East London, SA.
The next day being the 12th of December which was coincidentally Zizo’s birthday, the couple had what can be best described as a glamorous Xhosa wedding; the ceremony which was hosted at the Eastern Cape, precisely on King Williams’ Town was nothing short of a lavish affair and had a lot of dignitaries in attendance. Notable among them were Akhumzi Jezile, Shaka Sisulu, Malusi Gigaba, Khaya Dlanga, Ndumiso Lindi, and Lupi Ngcayisa.
The couple was a sight to behold in their traditional attire, while the groom was dressed in monochrome apparel, the bride matched it with a colorful Makoti, lavishly adorned in beadings as well as creamy layers. People were really in support of their union describing them as a cute couple. In fact, they were called Mzansi’s most loved couple.
Zizo Beda And Her Husband Welcomed Their First Baby Three Months Into Married Life
Their union was barely three months old when their son Vukile was born. Vukile remains the only offspring of the couple as their marriage crashed soon after. Zizo who is having a lot of fun raising their son has admitted that parenting is definitely no walk in the park, but can be rather fulfilling at the end of the day. She once uploaded the content of her week with Vukile on Instagram, while inviting mothers to join in the discussion.
In the Instagram post, Zizo Beda revealed how her week with Vukile went, letting on that she has been through a lot as they keep fighting over his not eating, putting on his pajamas, and many more. She concluded by saying that the mother-son bond still remains strong despite the daily craze and Vukile knows exactly when to tone it down upon noticing that her patience is running out.
Rumors About Their Possible Separation Began To Make The Rounds In 2018
For the ensuing three years after their wedding, life seemed to be running on oiled wheels for the couple and with the arrival of their son, fans were actually led to believe their love has been finally cemented. However, tidbits of info about the rocky nature of their marriage started filtering out to the public in 2018. According to words on the street, Tshwete had to pack out of the house before Christmas as Zizo spent the yuletide alone with her son. Close sources let on how the man was spotted having a time of his life in Capetown while his wife stayed back in Joburg.
According to a now dysfunctional Twitter account belonging to Moosa Kaula, it was clear that Zizo Beda’s marriage was on the rocks even though she continues to look good. The account also drew fans’ attention to the fact that the mother of one has not been seen with her wedding band since June 2018. Also revealed by the source was the reality of their situation; the couple was living like cats and dogs, always at each other’s throats, and for peace to reign, they had to go their separate ways.
It also came to light that the two families tried to help in settling their differences but it all came to naught. Thus, the final decision was left for them. However, the couple has maintained a high level of secrecy that it has become impossible to tell if they have finalized their divorce or still in the process. Besides, it is hard to know if any of them has moved on with another partner as they seem to still maintain some sort of closeness, probably because of their son. Since neither Zizo nor Tshwete came up to confirm these claims, they will always remain rumors
An Anonymous Relative Spilled The Beans On The Couple
Speaking to Sunday World, an anonymous relative of the couple threw some light on their current situation. According to the person who declined to come open for fear of being victimized, Zizo Beda and Mayihlome Tshwete started drifting apart as far back as 2017 after several attempts to resolve their issues failed; their son, the source said was the main reason they even attempted to fix things. Zizo already informed her family about the situation of things and her intention to file for divorce and when quizzed for her reasons, the media personality said she lost interest in the union and has reasons to believe that Mayihlome is of the same mind.
Other things revealed by the source include the terms of their separation and eventual divorce and they include:
- Mayihlome should relocate to their property in Midrand (registered under Mayihlome‘s name) while his wife stays in their Fourways home (this property is registered under Zizo’s name).
- Zizo gets custody of their son.
- They should each keep their individual cars.
Zizo has remained mute on the matter but when Mayihlome was contacted by the publication for confirmation, the father of one was irked and hung up on them after making it clear that they shouldn’t try to contact him on such issues ever again
