Yasmine Bleeth is a former actress and model whose career in entertainment began while she was still a child. She is notably known for the work she did on the iconic television show, Baywatch. As one of the stars of this show, she became a household name in the 90s.

Bleeth’s work on Baywatch set her on a trajectory that was bound to change her life and cement her status as a top actress in the annals of television. She was also on course to become a top-earning model but before any of this would gain traction, Bleeth retired. Her decision to walk away from her career and the fame has been a source of curious intrigue for many of her fans.

Yasmine Bleeth’s Career Began Before She Was 1

When Yasmine Bleeth was 10 months old, she was featured in a Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo commercial. She did not appear in front of a camera again until six years later when at the age of six, she was on the reality TV show Candid Camera for a very short while.

In that same year, Bleeth was cast in another commercial, this time it was in a cosmetic campaign the Max Factor cosmetic line was running. For the commercial, Bleeth was paired with Cristina Ferrare, a fashion model. Six years after, Yasmine Bleeth had her first appearance in a film; she appeared in the 1980 film, Hey babe!

Over the course of her career, she has had periods when she was not actively seeking roles; some of these were choices beyond her control. After previously taking a break from acting, the actress ultimately decided to retire in 2003.

She Found Mainstream Success By Playing Caroline Holden In ‘Baywatch’

By the time she was 16, the actress had her first big role when she was cast on Ryan’s Hope, a soap opera. She was only on the show for a year before it got canceled by ABC. Her next role came in 1993 and it was what brought her widespread fame. Bleeth was cast as Caroline Holden on the show Baywatch and was only meant to be a guest star at the time. However, fans of the show fell in love with her and shortly after, she transitioned to being a full-time member of the cast.

When Bleeth joined the show, it was already in its fourth season. During her time on the show, Bleeth started to get more modeling jobs. She was also repeatedly featured on different lists ranking her among the ‘Sexiest Women’ in the world between 1996 and 2001.

As she garnered fame, Bleeth was subjected to the ugly underbelly of what it means to be a star. The actress was hounded by the paparazzi and this had an adverse effect on her. However, this was not the motivation for her exit from a life of fame.

She Suffered From A Severe Addiction To Cocaine

Yasmine Bleeth’s career took a nosedive when her addiction to cocaine became uncontrollable. She started to use cocaine in 1996; she was taking it at parties and in social events. However, this changed and she started to have it in her home by getting it delivered to her.

The effects of the narcotic started to show on the actress and she lost a lot of weight by the end of the 90s. This was also when she got fired from her job as Caroline Holden as her inability to stay clean affected how well she could act. It is believed that her reliance on cocaine stemmed from the issues she was having in her long-distance relationship with Richard Grieco

Following her exit from Baywatch, Yasmine took up another job on Nash Bridges playing Inspector Caitlin Cross; however, she was only in 23 episodes of this show.

The Accident That Turned Things Around

Yasmine Bleeth’s public image started to suffer greatly and her father made attempts to help her but she refused. A friend of hers once seized all her possessions in a bid to help her kickstart the process of weaning off cocaine, but this did not work. In 2000, she collapsed during a photoshoot and after the incident, checked into rehab for two weeks. Shortly after Bleeth was released, she relapsed.

Things came to a head when on September 21, 2001, she drove off the highway and into a median strip while under the influence. This event occurred in Michigan and led the police to search her car and hotel room where drugs and drug-related items were found.

Bleeth faced a trial where she pleaded guilty to being in possession of cocaine and driving under the influence of drugs. The fact that there were no casualties from the incident was her saving grace. She was then sentenced to two years of probation and 100 hours of community service.

Yasmine Bleeth returned to the rehab center she had used in 2000; this time when she left, she did not relapse. However, she gradually withdrew from the screen afterward. Her last appearance on the screen is Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding in 2003.

She Has Remained Clean Since Leaving The Spotlight

Three years after the accident, the actress chronicled her struggle in a Glamour magazine article that was three pages long. She admitted that staying off drugs is part of her life now, as she was doing the work and making the conscious effort to remain clean. This was also the same year she was last seen in any acting role. Since 2003, she has shied away from the public eye and leads a quiet life.

Yasmine was later seen in February of 2020 taking a walk with her dog, the former actress/model seemed content with her life, of which the current details are unknown.

There are certain rules that people who are undergoing rehab are expected to adhere to. One of these rules is abstaining from romantic relationships for at least a year and especially with those who are undergoing the same process; but for Yasmine Bleeth, it was hard to do so when she met Paul Cerrito.

Cerrito was also in the Promises Rehabilitation Clinic in Malibu when they met. Cerrito, the owner of a strip club, was suffering from the same addiction when the two crossed paths. According to Bleeth, it was hard for both of them to resist each other.

The actress had initially met him in 2000 during her first stint at the rehab center; but when both of them left, they relapsed together. Following the accident, where he was the second occupant in the car, the couple has managed to remain clean together. They got married in 2002 on the 25th of August. The couple currently live in Los Angeles and do not have any kids together.
