At the age of five, when many of her peers played with dolls and Legos, she began to sing gospel music. It was at this time that her extraordinary ear for music started to manifest, often through the correction of her siblings for singing out of key. Child prodigies such as Carr often take singing lessons that help them hone their talents but in Carr’s case, she took zero lessons. Through listening to herself, she highlighted and fixed her mistakes. At that young age, she became a leading singer in her local church.
