Jordan Spieth is a professional American golfer who took the world by storm when he came unto the scene to become the second youngest golfer to win the Masters Tournament.
The Dallas, Texas native went on to become the first male to win two majors before their 22nd birthday in 82 years and by 23, was named to Time Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People” list.
Jordan Spieth was born Jordan Alexander Spieth to Mary Christine and Shawn Spieth on July 27, 1993, in Dallas, Texas. He was the first child of three children.
Spieth grew up playing various sports, specifically excelling in soccer and baseball before later switching all his attention to golf. Around the age of nine, his parents joined the Brookhaven Country Club in order to give their boy, who was beginning to pick a keen interest in the sport, access to proper facilities.
While attending St. Monica Catholic School and later Jesuit College Preparatory School, where he graduated from in 2011, Spieth had already begun to catch the attention of golf enthusiasts. He was already a two-time winner of the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship before heading off to college.
He played college golf for the University of Texas with whom he won the NCAA championship in his freshman year. In his sophomore year, Spieth was ranked the number one amateur golf player in the world. At the age of 19, before finishing his second year in college, he decided to turn professional.
Before turning 20, Spieth won his first PGA title at the John Deere Classic. He finished second twice at the Wyndham Championship and the Tour Championship to earn himself a spot on the Presidents Cup team as well as become named PGA Tour Rookie of the Year.
A couple of brilliant performances in big tournaments followed for Spieth before he was able to pick up his second PGA Tour victory at the 2015 Valspar Championship. He followed that victory up with a win at the Masters Tournament to put himself in comparison to other golfing greats and the rest, as they say, is history.
Jordan Spieth’s Net Worth, House
Jordan Spieth started making a name for himself at the young age of 15 when he won the U.S. Junior Amateur tournament. Since turning professional at the age of 19, he has so far, managed to amass a good fortune, with him currently being the fifth-highest-paid golfer in the world.
He reportedly earns around $50 million each year from both golfing tournaments and endorsement deals with companies like Under Armour, Coca-Cola, AT&T, and Rolex. By the end of 2017, Speith’s net worth is said to be around $60 million.
That figure is certainly going to increase in the coming years as Spieth continues winning and the stock in which he owns in Under Armour continues to climb.
With a huge amount of money to his name, it is no surprise that Jordan Spieth has been able to splash out on some quality real estate.
In 2016, the young golfer bought a 5 bedroom, 16,655-square-foot mansion in Dallas, Texas for $7.1 million. The house features an indoor basketball court, an underground 12-car garage, a golf-simulator room, an interior courtyard with spa and fire pit, a full outdoor kitchen, and a wine cellar among many other amenities.
It is definitely an upgrade from his former 7,400-square-foot home in Preston Hollow which he bought for $2.3 million.
Does He Have A Wife Or Girlfriend?
Jordan Spieth is not yet married. He is, however, engaged to his longtime girlfriend Annie Verret who works as an events coordinator.
The lovebirds met in high school and have been together ever since. She has been frequently spotted by his side at all his championship victories so it was not much of a surprise to the public and their families when they announced their engagement in December 2017.
Jordan Spieth’s parents, Shawn and Chris, were both college athletes. His father, Shawn, played college baseball while his mom, Chris, played college basketball. They since went on to do other things with Shawn opening a media analytics startup and Chris becoming a computer engineer.
He has two younger siblings; Steven and Ellie.
Jordan Spieth’s sister, Ellie, who was born in 2000, has a neurological disorder that has made her grow up with disabilities. She has been a source of inspiration for her big brother who says his sister’s troubles have kept him grounded and given him perspective.
In her honour, he created the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation which provides awareness and financial assistance to special needs children, as well as to military families and youth golf.
