The cornerback was born as Joshua Ricardo Norman in the month of Christmas precisely on the 15th in the year 1987. He is one of five children born to Roy and Sandra Norman. The family has four other beautiful sons apart from Josh namely Mario, Orlando, Phillip, and Renaldo.
For his educational pursuit, he attended Greenwood High School, started as an active football player and played with Armanti Edwards and D. J. Swearinger in the school team.
During his days at school, he was active in the game of basketball, baseball, football, and tracks but decided to take up football as a career. He excelled as a footballer and earned the All-State football player and North-South All-Star Game mentions.
However, despite his brilliance in high school, he never got any scholarship offers from any Division I schools. Nevertheless, his brother, Mario Norman who played football as well was granted scholarship at Coastal Carolina. Hence, Josh moved in with him and started classes at Horry Georgetown Tech. Not long after, he got an offer from Coastal Carolina Chanticleers to play football with the team.
Having laid a good foundation in high school and college, he was picked by the Carolina Panthers in the 2012 NFL Draft.
