Who is Josina Anderson of ESPN?
Josina Anderson is a talented sports journalist, popularly known for being the first NFL Insider for ESPN network. The reporter was born on the on the 15th day of August 1978, in Washington DC. She is of African-American ethnicity and possesses an American nationality. Josina went to Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland where she was actively involved in sports.
After High school, she proceeded to the University of North Carolina where she graduated with a degree in exercise and sports science. Her passion for sports started right from a very young stage and while in the university, she featured in 200 and 400-meter races and also won a gold medal during the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Junior Olympics. More so, Jojo as she is fondly called also excelled as a ballet dancer and finished her residencies with the Dance Theater of Harlem and Pennsylvania Ballet.
Career
After graduation, Josina interned at the Washington Redskin owned radio Station, WTEM. While she was there, she was also a regular guest on The Tony Kornheiser Show and The Donnie Simpson Morning Show on WPGC FM radio. After learning the rudiments of reporting and presentation, she landed her first Job as a sports news anchor at the CBS affiliate in Coos Bay, Oregon in the year 2000.
During her stint with the network, Josina reported from Oregon in the first year and the following year, she returned back to Washington where she served as a sideline reporter for popular sports teams including the football team, Washington Redskins and basketball team, Washington Wizards, among others. She equally reported college sports from Georgetown and Maryland University.
With the level of commitment and bravery she exhibited in breaking major national stories on sports, she was hired by Fox 31 in 2005 as the anchor, reporter, and producer. Joining the Fox Sports team, she produced the nightly sportscasts and made remarkable contributions in the show, Inside the NFL. Following her outstanding performances, Josina Anderson was hired by the ESPN network in 2011. According to her, it was a dream come true as she reached the new chapter of her career by working for ESPN.
Since 2011, Josina Anderson has been committed to her Job at ESPN, hosting exclusive interviews with lots of sports personalities. Notably, she is the first female sportscaster to bring live coverage of the NFL games. She also works as a correspondent on ESPN shows including SportsCentre, Inside The NFL, NFL Live, and NFL Countdown, among others.
For her unparalleled contributions in sports journalism, the sportscaster has received several accolades. She was honored with a Heartland Emmy Award in 2011 for her outstanding coverage of the NFL star, John Dutton and his wife’s trip to Addis Ababa to adopt their son named Miki. She also got a Salute to Excellence Award from the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) for her many outstanding radio programs.
