Mckinnon began professional performances in 2007 as part of the crew of The Big Gay Sketch Show on Logo TV. Two years into her career, she recorded numerous live sketch comedies, voiced some characters of series like Robotomy, Ugly America and even bagged some awards such as a Logo NewNowNext Award for Best Rising Comic. In similar fashion, she got nominated for ECNY Emerging Comic Award. In 2016, her role in the reboot Ghostbusters which starred four formidably amazing women including herself, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, and Leslie Jones brought her to the center stage of fame.
