American sportscaster and television host, Katie Osborne, is gradually working her way to fame in the field of TV broadcasting. Since after making her debut as a sports reporter, she has worked with numerous sports channels, including Fox Sports, ESPN, NBC Sports, CBS Sports, Spike TV, and many more. She is, however, most popular for being the host of the PowerNation show on Spike TV, NBC Sport, and CBS Sports since 2016.
Osborne has also reported for several sports teams such as the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, Colombus Blue Jackets, and Indianapolis Indians. She has also covered leagues and tournaments like the National Hockey League, National Football League, and X Games.
Katie Osborne Studied Sports Broadcasting in College
Katie Osborne was born on July 30th, 1982, in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. She grew up in her birthplace where she completed her education from elementary, middle, to high school. While attending high school, Katie developed a strong interest in sporting activities and was an active participant in athletics.
After leaving high school, she proceeded to attend Iowa University but later transferred to Indiana University in Bloomington after a year to pursue a degree in Sports Communication-Broadcasting. She graduated in 2010.
As an undergraduate, Katie Osborne was a member of the Novaquatics Masters and competed in national swimming tournaments. She emerged as one of the best swimmers from Indiana. But despite her success as a swimmer, Katie had her eyes set on a career in sports broadcasting and so she would take up internship positions during holidays.
Ms. Osborne famously worked at organizations like St. Vincent Sports Performance Center (administrative assistant), Indiana Motor Speedway (client service intern), Chick-fil-A (Unit Marketing Director), and as a sports intern at WISH-TV. She also received additional training as a reporter in the NIKE Field Reporter program.
She Started Her Career as a TV Host for Sports Revolution
On completing her degree in 2010, Katie Osborne joined the workforce as a TV host for Sports Revolution. However, the starter gig lasted only three months and she joined the Indiana Pacers’ Sports & Entertainment department as an In-Game TV host.
Before she left the Pacers, Katie began working as a host and content producer for IndyCar, ending both gigs in May 2011. Her broadcasting career took a brief detour in June 2011 when she joined the clothing company, PVH, as a sales coordinator. She spent five months working in the role before returning to her broadcasting roots as a sideline reporter for Indiana Basketball in December 2011.
Over the next two years, Katie Osborne worked as a reporter for the basketball organization, Pet Pals TV, and USA Swimming. In October 2012, she took on another role as Social Media Reporter & Live Host for Speed.
As part of her work in the Indianapolis sports ecosystem, Katie also reported and hosted shows for the Indianapolis Colts, the Pre-Game show on WISH-TV, ESPN, and Colts TV. After three years of covering other sports, she was able to land a role reporting on her favorite sport, car racing.
She joined Global Rallycross in February 2013 as a reporter, host, and executive producer. She also held a simultaneous role as Global Rallycross’s director of marketing, media, and social media. Although she did not leave the roles until December 2013, she joined ESPN in August as a Pit & Trackside Reporter. After five months, she joined NBC Sports as a pit reporter for Rally America.
In between her stints at Global Rallycross, ESPN, and NBC Sports, Katie Osborne also worked as a reporter and host for JacketsTV. Before she began hosting PowerNation, she also worked for Fox Sports, TORC, and CBS Sports.
Her Stint as Host of PowerNation Began in 2015
In August 2015, Katie Osborne started hosting PowerNation on Spike TV, CBS Sports, and NBC Sports. She also worked as a pit and trackside reporter for The Off-Road Championship. The following year, she began hosting another similar show titled PowerNation on the Road in addition to the original program. She also started reporting for Mecum Auctions on NBC Sports and Snocross on CBS Sports. By March 2017, she started working as a digital pit reporter and race day host for Indycar.
Katie has had a lot of different stops across different sports broadcasting organizations. However, it is her hosting job on PowerNation, America’s number one automotive how-to show that shot her to the limelight. Her responsibilities as the host of PowerNation includes reporting top racers, vehicles, and trends in the racing industry. She also conducts behind-the-scenes interviews with racers, technicians, and team owners.
Aside from her PowerNation gig, Katie has also been hosting Peaking on The CW Network since May 2019. On the show, she covers other races that happen throughout the year like the Red Bull Signature Series and the Forza Racing Championship.
Katie Osborne Spends The Rest of Her Time Participating in Philanthropic Activities
Osborne is actively involved in charity. She created the Joy Project, a charity establishment that serves as a virtual platform for firms to share their life lessons, inspiring stories, and everything that can help people find joy. As part of the project, she hosts The Joy Project Podcast.
Katie is also committed to Make-A-Wish, a non-profit organization that focuses on creating life-changing wishes for children and teenagers suffering from critical illnesses.
When she is not covering a racing event or working on any of her shows, Katie enjoys traveling around the country. She also enjoys activities like yoga, cooking, sipping a cup of coffee, and volunteering.
Katie Has Been Dating Tanner Foust for Years
Katie Osborne has been in a long-time relationship with television host and professional automotive racer, Tanner Foust. Tanner is a champion in his career which spans across various kinds of racing, including rallycross, time attack, drift, and ice racing. He is popular for co-hosting the American version of the British television series, Top Gear.
The scarcity of Tanner on her Instagram page has led many to presume that the couple are no longer together. However, the current working theory is that it is untrue, and they are presumably keeping their relationship on the down-low away from media attention.
She Loves Vintage Cars
Considering their shared interest in cars and all forms of vehicles, it is no surprise that Katie Osborne and Tanner Foust hit it off. The reporter and podcaster is a huge fan of vintage cars, and while Tanner does not make it to her Instagram posts, several of them have.
