Standing outside and looking in, Kris Jenner looks like the oil that greases the wheels of the entire Kardashian/Jenner machine. She has been dubbed a momager and rightfully so because she seems to have had a part to play in the trajectory of each and every one of her daughters individually and the Kardashian brand taken as a whole. Frequent viewers of the reality TV show – Keeping up with the Kardashians, can see her hand in the bulk of the decisions made as a family. The Kardashians are reality TV heavyweights and Kris Jenner has more or less been the glue that has kept her family together, not just from a family point of view but also from a business standpoint. Her famous “cut” on all of the major deals struck up for her kids is a talking point in circles close to the family.
She manages the varied business ventures and projects of her biological children which stretch from fragrance lines to autobiographies. How commercially viable the Kardashians would have been without her guidance is still up for debate, but what is certain is that for a long time she had been the hand behind the wheels, steering them in profitable directions long before they were old enough to take care of their business by themselves.
Kris Runs A Communications Firm Managing The Careers Of Her Children
Before the now famous reality TV Show Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kris Jenner’s first shot at the entertainment business was to manage her husband Bruce Jenner’s career. She set out to market his motivational series, Finding the Champion Within, to a wider market. After success with this project, this venture metamorphosed into Jenner Communications.
When Kris, inspired by the popular family-based show The Osbournes contemplated the idea of a show centered around her kids, she reached out to Ryan Seacrest. Working together, both as Executive Producers, the show was started in 2007. The series debuted on October 14, 2007. The show centers around Kim, Kourtney, and Khloé and their half-sisters Kendall and Kylie and brother Rob. It also features their significant others and the people they have dated over the course of that time.
The family has other reality shows like Kourtney & Kim Take New York, Kourtney & Kim Take Miami, Khloe & Lamar. Kris is an Executive Producer for these above shows. The E channel after the initial success of Keeping Up With the Kardashians paid $80 million in 2015 to renew the show. Two years later the figure was increased to $100 million. A big part of her income comes from a 10% cut she gets from managing the careers of Rob Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, and Kendall Jenner.
She Has Investments In Other Ventures Run By Her Kids
Kris’s daughter Kim Kardashian owns KKW Beauty, a cosmetics brand she pioneered in 2017. Kris is said to own an 8% stake in the brand. Her stake in the brand is worth $80 million.
Kris owns 5% of Kylie Cosmetics, a beauty brand owned by her daughter Kylie Jenner. She initially owned 10% of the company but sold half of it in 2019. The remaining stake is estimated to be worth $30 million before tax.
Kris has also authored a couple of books, her autobiography Kris Jenner…and All Things Kardashian was released in 2011. Her second book which is mostly about cooking In the Kitchen with Kris: A Kollection of Kardashian-Jenner Family Favorites was published in October 2014.
Her net worth is put at an estimated $140 million. In December 2017 she acquired a six-bedroom mansion in Calabasas where she currently resides for $9.9 million. She also owns a one-story vacation home in La Quinta, Palm Springs.
She attempted debuting her own daytime TV talk show in 2013 but the program was not renewed after she failed to attract enough of an audience.
Kris Has Been Married Twice
Kris Jenner has been twice married and twice divorced. Her first marriage was to a successful high-powered attorney named Robert Kardashian. The two were married on the 8th of July 1978. Robert Kardashian was the best friend of O.J Simpson, the athlete, and actor who was at the center of one of the most dramatic murder trials of the decade. Kris Jenner was, therefore, soon close to O.J Simpson’s wife Nicole Brown Simpson and was devastated by the death of her friend in the 1990s and also that her husband O.J Simpson was being accused of murdering her.
Robert Kardashian gained national prominence in the course of the case and he later died in 2003 of esophageal cancer. Before his death and even before the full attention that the case drew to the family, the two got divorced in 1991. Their marriage was blessed with four children named Robert Jr., Kourtney, Kim, and Khloé.
Almost immediately after her divorce from Robert Kardashian was final, Kris Jenner got married to the former Olympic gold medal-winning decathlete, Bruce Jenner. Bruce already had four children from his two previous marriages – Burt, Casey, Brandon, and Brody Jenner – who Kris Jenner became a stepmother to. They, however, also had two children of their own who they named Kendall and Kylie.
Kris Jenner took on the role of Bruce’s manager when she married him. She negotiated his deals and promoted his career as a race car driver. The two were, however, having problems in their marriage and separated in June 2013 before finalizing their divorce in December 2014. In 2015, Bruce Jenner came out as transgender and officially changed his name to Caitlyn, beginning to identify as female.
In her autobiography, she owned up to infidelity while she was still married to her first husband Robert. She confessed to having a secret affair at the time with Todd Waterman a former soccer player. This has also been confirmed by Todd.
On James Corden’s “The Late Late Show” Kris shed further light on her love life and confirmed rumors that she was in a relationship with Tour Manager Corey Gamble. The pair began dating in the fall of 2014 about a year after her divorce from Bruce (now Caitlyn).
