Laquon Treadwell has become famous as a National Football League (NFL) star, but he grew up thinking he was going to become a farmer. Just like many other stars who climb the ladder of success bit by bit before making the hit. Laquon Treadwell’s Bio
He was born on June 14, 1995, in south suburban Chicago. Things went sour for them when their patriarch abandoned his home in the care of his mom, Tami Treadwell. It is no surprise that Laquon has chosen not to speak about his father, nevertheless, he often tries to reach out to him when he can. Initially, he was groomed to be a farmer as his family owned a corn field but took a turn in his supposed career when he developed a passion for football.
Laquon Treadwell is one of five siblings, two sisters, and three brothers. After their father left, they moved to Ford Heights when the wide receiver was just 9. Records have it that they never settled at a place because they were always in search of a cheaper accommodation. Finally, they decided to settle in University Park where the rest of their survival story has become history.
Tami Treadwell trained her children to always stand up for themselves but she saw a difference in her son Laquon. The kid had a large heart and in his own way of contributing for their family needs, he often ran through plant fields as a child to steal tomatoes and onions.
Laquon Treadwell kicked off his football career with the Crete-Monee High School football team. There, he played as a wide receiver, played the role of a quarterback in his freshman days and also featured on defense during his second year. In all the positions he has manned as a footballer, he was swift and was also noted as one of the top prospects of the school. In his second year, he recorded 58 passes for 811 yards in addition to 7 touchdowns. As a junior, he scored 75 catches for 1,391 yards in addition to 18 touchdowns on offense and 45 tackles with eight sacks on defense. With that record, he emerged as the NWI Times Offensive Player of the Year, Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Year and selected to be the First-team All-State amongst other recognitions.
Laquon Treadwell started his career as a senior with a glam. He garnered more recognition and averaged 13.0 points, 8.6 rebounds in each of his games. After high school, he was considered as a 5- star recruit by Rivals.com and other known sports recruiting agents. In addition to that, other sports inclined schools gave him offers but he chose the University of Mississipi over them because he wanted to be in the same school with his friend Anthony Standifer.
Laquon Treadwell didn’t complete his collegiate career, he opted out in his third year to join the NFL the following year. Having attained an immeasurable record as a student-athlete, it was with no difficulty that he was selected by the Minnesota Vikings as the 23rd overall pick in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
His first appearance with the team was in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals, he caught a game-high four passes for 41 yards. In his next game, he recorded a 15-yard reception which was his first professional career pass. Unfortunately, the wide receiver’s record through his rookie season was underwhelming, in total, he appeared in 9 games and finished the season with just one reception.
The following season, in a game against the Pittsburg Steelers, he recorded three receptions for 33 yards. He featured in a few games that season and recorded in total, 20 receptions for 200 receiving yards. Come 2018, Laquon recorded his first NFL career touchdown in a tie against the Green Bay Packers.
