Lenny Kravitz was born in Brooklyn, New York, on May 26, 1964, as the only child of his parents. He developed an interest in music from the time he was five years old and starting out by playing the drums and other instruments. Having a father who was a jazz promoter, he would listen to jazz music as well as Rhythm and blues. He later decided to join the choir as he grew older.
After his family moved to Los Angeles in 1974, Kravitz became a member of the California Boys Choir where he displayed unique skill on different kinds of musical equipment.
