Lil Frosh (Born June 13th, 1998) is a 25 year-old Nigerian musician and songwriter who raps in the Yoruba language. He is best known for his use of street slang in his music as he notably coined the widely used phrases ‘Sonto Polio‘ and ‘Firi Yahoo‘. Some of his most popular songs are Like Dat, Study Me, and Life of the Party.
Thanks to a number of his freestyle skits, this Lagos-based afro-hip hop rapper has earned himself a worthy reputation in the hearts of his followers.
What Is Lil Frosh’s Ethnicity?
Sani Goriola Wasiu was born on June 13th, 1998, in Lagos Nigeria. He is of Yoruba heritage in Southwestern Nigeria. Sani who is also called ‘Eru Iku Makanaki‘ grew up in Lagos where he had his primary education at Lively Nursery School. He later attended Boys secondary School, Agege, Lagos for his secondary education. Sani has African ethnicity and his religion is Christianity.
Nothing much is known about Sani’s family especially as regards his parents and siblings but it is said that his father is a serviceman while his mother is a homemaker. Eruku began his career in music shortly after he finished his secondary education and thanks to his talent and dedication to his music career, he was able to rise to fame in a very short time. Apart from his music career, Lil Frosh is popular for his unique dress style, pattern, and color matching apparel, mostly associated with other Lagos youngsters.
He started His Music Career Along with His Friend “Zinoleesky”
Lil Frosh is a very close friend to Oniyide Azeez, popularly known as Zinoleesky. Zinoleesky who according to some online sources attended the same schools as Lil Frosh was friends with him for several years and together with Ibradosky, the three challenged themselves with freestyles, not knowing that it would bring them to the stardom they are enjoying today.
Lil Frosh’s rise to fame in the music industry began when Kizz Daniel notice one of their rap videos on Instagram after it was posted by Zinoleesky. Kiss Daniel later followed him on the popular photo-sharing app. This further motivated them to put in more effort which has now paid off.
His “Sonto Poilo Firi Yahoo” Slang Aided His fast rise to Fame
While he is now known for producing many street songs that are currently going viral, Lil Frosh made his very first break to the limelight with his “Sonto Poilo Firi Yahoo” slang which he later used to perform a rap freestyle. The rap freestyle captured a lot of A list acts mind. This includes rapper and street Ambassador, Small Doctor who then joined him on board to perform a full song of the slang ”Firi Yahoo“.
Lil Frosh Signed with Davido Music Worldwide (DMW)\
After releasing Instagram rap freestyle videos that went viral, Lil Frosh and his friends were then motivated to produce more songs. Catching the attention of top musicians, Frosh was then signed Under Aloma Music Worldwide (AMW), a subsidiary of DMW owned by award-winning Nigerian musician Davido. He finally joined Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) in September 2020 after leaving Aloma Music Worldwide for what he called “irreconcilable differences”.
In his one year on AMW/DMW, Frosh released five singles including the popular singles, ‘Fifty’ and ‘Ko Le Re Body’ featuring Mayorkun. So far, he has released songs he has done a good number of songs with top Nigerian artists, including musician and dancer Zlatan Ibile.

Why was Lil Frosh Arrested?
While he was getting ready to enjoy the dividends of his hard work, Lil Frosh got himself entangled in a case of assault that almost ended his career for good. In October 2020, he was accused of physically abusing his girlfriend. In a Twitter post made by his girlfriend’s (Gift Camille) manager, Mayork Michael, the singer/rapper allegedly abused Gift to such extent that she lost her job. Camile, a model, who also claimed to have dated the artist for more than ten months stated that he regularly beats her. Worst of it all happened on September 15, 2020, when he beat her to stupor such that she had internal bleeding in her head.
Following the allegations against him, Lil Frosh’s contract with Davido’s DMW was terminated and on February 4, 2021, he was arrested by the Lagos State police. A suit was later filed against him at the Lagos state Magistrate court in Yaba with the help of the International Association Of Women Lawyers, Lagos State branch. On February 9, 2021 court hearing, the Magistrate, Adeola Olatunbosun, adjourned the case till March 9, 2021, and Lil Frosh was to remain in prison till then.
Meanwhile, the rapper has since then on several occasions denied assaulting his girlfriend. Reacting further to the picture of her swollen face, the rapper claimed that Camille had complained to him of having a boil due to an allergic reaction. He said she called him to explain the allergy which lasted for about seven days.
Lil Frosh also shared some screenshots of their chats, as he admitted his fault for not debunking the claims at the time he was called out by her manager. According to his claims, Gift only wanted to trend and have massive social media followers nevertheless, he claims to still love her very much.
