Lil Pump is a famous rapper who came into limelight with his hit song Gucci Gang when he was just a teenager. He also happens to be a songwriter and a producer who has mixed origins as a result of his parents who are immigrants. Just like his predecessors such as Cheif Keef and Gucci Mane, he has joined the new wave of young rappers who have a hardcore rapping style as well as intimidating tattoo body markings. No doubt, this is a lifestyle Lil Pump embodies so well as his gangster image can easily be detected in most of his pictures where he is seen wielding various types of firearm.
He is also known for promoting the use of the Xanax drug as a stress reliever or party elixir. His multi-coloured dreadlocks is one thing that is clearly visible about the star as it does well to add up to his natural swag. In terms of his music, one thing is for sure, ever since meeting producer and fellow rapper Smorkepurpp, his career moved up to a whole new level as several hit record have been released, with most topping charts all over the country. Read on for more details about the prolific Soundclap rapper.
Who Is Lil Pump?
Lil Pump whose real name is Gazzy Garcia was born in Miami, Florida on the 17th of August 2000. His parents are Columbians. His family moved to Florida shortly after his older brother was born in Columbia. After moving to the United States, he and his family lived in Miami Gardens and he was heavily influenced by the rap songs he listened to. As a kid, he listened to established artists like; Fredo Santana, Chief Keef, and Lil B. It was by listening to his icons that he started to hone his lyrical skills by freestyling.
His freestyling wasn’t serious at first as a result of his rocky experience in some schools he was enrolled into. He got himself expelled from school a couple of times after his gross misconduct. First, he was expelled from “multiple district schools,” then he managed to get into another high school. When he was in the tenth grade, he had an altercation with a classmate who nagged him about the loud Chief Keef music he was playing in class. His refusal to turn in down led to her putting gum in his hair. This move caused Pump to beat her up which in turn led to his expulsion yet again.
It was after these series of bad experience that he began to take his rap more seriously. Though he used music as a means of escape, he honed his freestyling skills to a level he never thought he could get to. At age 13, Garcia was introduced to Omar Pineiro, popularly known as Smokepurpp. After this meeting, Garcia and Smorkepurpp became good friends and frequent collaborators.
Before the fame, he worked hard to get his music out. In 2016, his debut single “Lil Pump” was produced and released independently for the public to stream on the SoundCloud website. Some of the follow-up songs released include “Elementary”, “Ignorant”, “Gang Shit”, and “Drum$tick”. All these songs combined gave him over 3 million streams on SoundCloud alone.
The songs were quite successful enough to give him bragging rights as a “SoundClap Rapper”. This also increased his popularity in the South Florida underground rap scene. As his fame began to rise, he got billed to co-headline the “No Jupiter” tour and also landed a gig to perform at the Rolling Loud Festival also in 2016.
In 2017, Pump released the song “Gucci Gang”, which was an instant hit, peaking at number three on Billboard Hot 100. This made it his very first entry into the platform. His debut commercial album was released on the 6th of October 2017 and the album featured ace rappers and producers like; Smokepurpp, 2 Chainz, Chief Keef, Rick Ross, Gucci Mane, and Lil Yachty. The single “I Shyne” featuring producer Carnage was dropped on in January 2018. He later signed a contract deal worth $8 million with Warner Bros on the 12th of March, 2018.
For a young rapper still in his teens, Lil Pump can be said to be one of the richest rappers of his peers. Also, given the fact that he recently crashed his new Porsche and flaunts bundles of cash every now and then on social media, it won’t be far-fetched to believe that the artist is financially covered. Well, this is actually the case as Lil Pump has an estimated net worth of $4 million which is quite impressive for a newbie in the rap game.
Family – Parents
Usually, celebrities comfortably flaunt their families for the whole world to see but this is not the case when it comes to Lil Pump because much information about his parents isn’t given. However, one thing we do know is that Lil Pump’s parents are immigrants. His father is originally from Cuba while his mother is originally from Mexico. They are also very religious, hence, the reason for staying away from the media and spotlight.
Moreso, as regards Lil Pump’s gangster image and hardcore lyrics, it’s quite understandable why his parents might not be too comfortable associating with such an image publicly.
Is He Dead?
Social media was thrown into a pandemonium when news started circulating about the rappers death. This news came at the wake of the recent untimely deaths witnessed in the music industry most especially among young rising rap artists stemming from either violence or drug abuse. However, this news was quickly revealed to be false as it was actually Lil Peep (another equally young and talented rapper of 21 years old) who died not Lil Pump.
Lip Peep who died in 2017 was rumored to have overdosed on the drug called Xanax; this prompted Lil pump to post his new year resolution at the beginning of 2018 stating that he has given up the use of Xanax as a stress reliever. Hopefully, he maintains this resolution.
