Lovelyz is an eight-member South Korean girl band created in 2014 by the famous South Korean entertainment company, Woollin Entertainment that manages many renowned groups, artists and actors including Infinite, Rocket Punch, Park Joo-hwan and many others. The band debuted on 12th November 2014 at K-ART Hall, Olympic Park after releasing their digital single, ‘Good Night Like Yesterday’. They officially released their first studio album titled ‘Girls’ Invasion’ with its lead single, ‘Candy Jelly Love’ on 17th November 2014. Baby Soul is a South Korean singer who serves as the leader, main songster, and rapper of the South Korean girl band, Lovelyz. She was born as Lee Soo-jung on 6th July 1992 in Gwangju, South Korea and later quit high school in order to concentrate on her music training with Woollin Entertainment which took her 6-7 years. Prior to becoming a Lovelyz member, Baby Soul first debuted as a soloist in 2011 with the single, ‘No Better Than Stranger’. She also has under her belt another single titled, ‘She’s a Flirt’ which she released in 2012. She appeared as Fondue Princess in King of Masked Singer and can also play the piano.
Jiae is the songster, rapper, and visual of the girl band, Lovelyz. She was born as Yoo Ji-ae on 21st May 1993 in Seoul, South Korea. She attended Mayang High School but later switched over to Seoul Performing Arts High School. Jiae debuted as a soloist with the single, ‘Delight’ in 2013 and can play the piano. In addition to singing, she has modeled for ‘Yozo’ and has appeared on KBS TV drama, God of Study.
Jisoo is the stage name of Lovelyz member, Seo Ji-soo who serves as the dancer, songster, and rapper of the band. She was born on 11th February 1994 in Incheon, South Korea. She contested in 2011 Korea’s Got Talent and made a cameo appearance in the TV drama, The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop. She’s allergic to seafood and can draw very well.
Mijoo is a South Korean singer who is well known as the dancer and songster of the girl band, Lovelyz. She was born as Lee Mi-joo on 23rd September 1994 in Okcheon County, North Chungcheong, South Korea, but legally changed her name to Lee Seungah. She attended Big Bang’s Seungri’s Dance Academy and learned Jazz while in high school. Mijoo has appeared in many variety shows, TV and web dramas including Hit the Stage, The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop, and I’m A Job Seeker. She is also one of JTBC4’s My Mad Beauty 2 MCs.
Kei is a South Korean singer and actress who is popularly known as a Lovelyz member. She was born as Kim Ji-yeon on 20th March 1995 in Incheon, South Korea. She is an alumna of Incheon Youngsun High School. Kei debuted as a soloist with the extended play, ‘Over and Over’ on 8th October 2019. She recorded the song, ‘Love Is Like That’ for the drama, Oh My Venus in December 2015 and has served as an MC for music programs; Inkigayo and Music Bank. As an actress, her theatre and TV drama credits include At The Age of Thirty, and Matching! Boys Archery Club.
Jin is a Lovelyz member who was born as Park Myung-eun on 12th June 1996 in Busan, South Korea. She attended Korea Arts High School and became a trainee of Woollin Entertainment during her middle school years. She debuted as a soloist with the single, ‘Gone’ in 2013 and has also appeared in the variety show, King of Masked Singer as Cassette Girl.
Sujeong serves as the songster of Lovelyz and was born as Ryu Soo-jung on 19th November 1997 in Daejeon, South Korea. She attended the School of Performing Arts, Seoul. She was part of the seven-member girl group named Girls Next Door which debuted on 14th July 2017 alongside six other female idols from Idol Drama Operation Team, TV program. She also appeared as Kongji and Patjwi in King of Masked Singer.
Yein is the lead dancer, songster, and youngest Lovelyz member (Maknae). She was born as Jung Ye-in on 4th June 1998 in Incheon, South Korea. She was a former JYP Entertainment trainee. She is also an actress who has featured in many variety shows and TV dramas including Criminal Minds (Korean version), The Blue Sea, and The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop.
Info & Trivia About Lovelyz
1. Lovelyz members were appointed the anti-smoking ambassadors for the South Korean military by the Ministry of National Defense in August 2016.
2. The official name of their fan club is Loveliness.
3. Yein didn’t participate in their second studio album promotion due to an ankle injury sustained during practice on 2nd March 2017 but later rejoined the promotions on 23rd March 2017.
4. Lovelyz collaborated with Metro City (an Italian brand) for the JTBC show, Idol Job Diary Good Job as part of Metro City’s ‘Show Me The Miracle Campaign’ in June 2018.
5. Lovelyz member, Jin did not perform ‘Wag-Zak’ with other Lovelyz members at Mnet’s M Countdown on 28th June 2018 due to health challenges.
