Malcolm Nance is an ex-Naval officer who currently provides commentaries on TV stations like MSNBC and C-Span. He is widely recognized as a counter-terrorism expert and intelligence community member who has been deployed to intelligence operations in several countries. Aside from his works on the media, Malcolm has also written many books for which he has been recognized.

He is also a public speaker who often organize events in universities where he speaks on terrorism-related subjects and has taught in Victoria University and the Defense Intelligence Agency. Who is Malcolm Nance?

The former Naval officer who served for two decades in the United States Navy was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 20th September 1961. He is a graduate of West Catholic Boys High School. He reportedly took Spanish, French and Latin lessons at Edwin H. Vare High School and equally attended Philadelphia High School where he had free lessons on Chinese and Russian on Saturday programs. For this reason, Malcolm Nance is highly skilled in a foreign language as he is multi-lingual. He acquired his higher education at Excelsior College situated in New York and there, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Arabic.

He enlisted into the United States Navy in 1981 and served as an intelligence operator. He was deployed on several clandestine counter-terrorism intelligence and special reconnaissance missions in several countries in the Middle-East and also the Sub-Sahara African regions as well. He additionally took part in field and combat intelligence activity and there, he played diverse roles including working as a field interrogator and Arabic speaking Special Intelligence Collections Operator.

Having witnessed multiple terrorist attacks, Malcolm Nance has taken part in the response operations to those attacks such as the Archille Lauro Marjacking, combat operations against the Iranian Navy, the hijacking of TWA 847, the millennium bomb plot and several others.

Prior to his retirement, Nance worked as a master training instructor and specialist at the United States Navy Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) school located in Coronado, California. During such time, he gained experience in the area of intelligence and counter-terrorism which has enabled him to maintain a career in the field even after his retirement as he moved on to establish an intelligence support company called Special Readiness Services International in 2001.

Following his in-depth knowledge of National Security, he has lectured at different universities and has been associated with the International Spy Museum where he serves as a fellow of the advisory board of directors. He has also served as a consultant for the United States Government’s Special Operations and Homeland Security.

As a result of his expertise in the area of National Security, Nance had been contracted by other countries to work as their adviser and intelligence consultant. He has further organized training on terrorist tactics as well as on how to counter extremist ideology for government agency officials.

For a decade, he served as the chairman of the Fearless Security Group that is based in the UAE and equally worked as their chief expatriate adviser. He also served as the moderator of the Talking Terrorism program that was held at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perry World House, alongside Richard Clarke, an ex-National Security Council Counterterrorism adviser.

Furthermore, Malcolm Nance has penned down many books which include Final Report of the Task Force on Combating Terrorist and Foreign Fighter Travel, The Terrorist of Iraq: Inside the Top Strategy and Tactics of Iraq Insurgency, Hacking ISIS: How to Destroy the Cyber Jihad and others. Working as a media expert on intelligence on many TV networks, Malcolm has been at the center of controversies and has often received threats on his life and family.

Where is His Family?

Malcolm Nance tied the knot with the love of his life, Maryse Beliveau-Nance in the year 2004. The couple is foster parents of three kids whose birth dates are registered as 1990, 1991 and 1993. As a result of the threats he has received from people he must have offended, the identities of his kids have been hidden as well as their whereabouts. However, it is known that the media personality resides in Hudson, New York.

His wife, Maryse who was a landscape architect was diagnosed with cancer of the ovary which was in stage four at the beginning of 2018. Sadly, on 11th September 2019, she passed on from complications of ovarian cancer. She was laid to rest in Washington’s Crossing National Cemetery on September 20, 2019.
