Marco Rubio came into the politics with a bang and took the entire nation by surprise when he floored former governor Charlie Crist at the polls, picking the cherished ticket to the Senate in 2010.

He also declared his interest in being the number one citizen of the United State of American and entered the presidential race, though he lost out to the bigger personalities -Ted Cruz and Donald Trump. Rubio later retreated to the Senate.

Marco Rubio’s birth name is Marco Antonio Rubio, he was born on the 28th of May 1971 in Miami, Florida. He grew up with 2 elder siblings and a younger sister in Nevada. Rubio has a mixed ancestry; Cuba, Hispanic and American.

He had his high school education at South Miami Senior High School, where he graduated in 1989. There, he was an outstanding sportsman and even got awards and scholarship to study in college through sports. He took up a scholarship to study at Tarkio College in Missouri but spent just a year there before moving on to Santa Fe College, Gainesville, Florida, where he finished his college education before furthering in the University of Florida, where he bagged a Political Science degree in 1993.

Not satisfied with the level of education he had attained, in view of his political aspirations, he again, found his way to the four walls of the University of Miami School of Law where he earned yet another degree as a Juris Doctor, graduating with honors in 1996.

After an outstanding educational outing, he applied for his internship with the honorable representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, working with other politicians like Senator Bob Dole during his presidential campaigns. From there, he clinched a political office as City Commissioner for West Miami, 2 years after graduating from law school. This was the beginning of his breakthrough into the political terrain as he was later elected to represent the 111th district, at the House of Representatives in 2000 under the platform of the Republican, defeating his Democratic opponent, Anastasia Garcia. He gor over 72% of the total votes to pick the ticket and he emerged victorious at the 25th January election.

During his course in the House, he was made the speaker from November 2006 to 2008; after his tenure expired, he left to set up his own legal practice and combined it with a lecturing job at the Florida International University.

Again, in 2010, he contested for the Senate under the Republican party, slogging it down with Charlie Crist, though he was regarded as a freshman and novice in the politics but his campaign promises to reform the economy, drew many to him and eventually led to the defeat of Charlie Crist at the polls. He took political analysts by surprise when he took over the vacated seat of former Senator Mel Martinez.

In 2015, he announced his political ambition and intent to enter the presidential race along with Ted Cruz and Donald Trump, a race he eventually withdrew from to return to the Senate. Marco Rubio has missed a total of 8.3% cast votes during the passing of bill from 2011 to 2015.

Family

The family of Marco Rubio was said to have originally moved from Cuba to the United States in 1956 before the renowned Communist leader, Fidel Castro took power. The name of his Cuban parents are Mario Rubio Reina and Oriales Garcia Rubio, they became citizens of the United States of American in 1975.

Marco’s father worked as a bartender in Sam’s Town Hotel while the mother was the housekeeper of the Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino. He has 2 elder siblings and a younger sister; Mario, Barbara, and Veronica. They all grew up in Las Vega together and are Christians by faith. The family eventually moved to Miami.

Marco Rubio met and fell in love with Jeanette Dousdebes, a one-time cheerleader of Miami Dolphins before she graduated and became a banker. The duo got hitched in 1998 at a church ceremony in Church of the Little Flower. Their union is blessed with 4 beautiful kids; Amanda, Daniella, Anthony, and Dominic.
